Fiscally he's pretty conservative, socially pretty liberal...

I’d say fiscally he’s on a par with McCain, socially he’s more like Giuliani, defiantly a republican we’re not talking about Lincoln Chafee here Smiley

Then again I tend to think terms such as RINO and DINO are conjured up by extremists in both parties simply to denigrate other schools of thought within their respective political parties, be it the club for growth or one of the wackier liberal groupings.

I stand by this statement I made earlier today

The Democratic Party and the Republican Party are only names, they have nothing to do with your political views, so everyone is either a RINO or a DINO, (or a third party/independent, of course.)

You have such a sunny view of life.  It's great to see that you have such moral outrage against men who cheat on their wives.  And of course, Democrats don't ever do that.  I guess Roosvelt, Kennedy, Johnson and Clinton were all Republicans.  Since in your world they're all very right wing, I guess they might as well have been.

When's the last time a Republican president cheated on his wife, anyway? Like, Warren Harding?

I can't find any references on Google to Kit Downard.  Are you sure that was the name?  I'd be interested in looking that up sometime, possibly.

That gives results, but Kit sounds like a male name and I assume that a driver would be a primarily male occupation, especially back then.

Kit could be short for Katherine, or something like that, but I think Philip just had the name wrong.  I'm almost sure it's Kay Summersby.

It was alleged that Ike had a long-running affair with her while he was away from Mamie for an extended time during the War in Europe.

I know of some rumors surrounding George H.W. Bush from a few sources in the DC area....but I can't say for sure if they are true.

He couldn't be really conservative socially.  This is California we're talking about here.  The Golden State does vote for fiscal conservatives though, with Sen. Feinstein has an example.

I'm not sure I'd call Feinstein a fiscal conservative...

Probably not in relation to some Republicans, but didn't she vote for CAFTA?

Yes, but the National Taxpayer's Union gives her a poor rating.  The same with my representative - voted for CAFTA but isn't really economically conservative.

Ooo.  Didn't see that rating.

Whatever Arnold is or isn't, he's not qualified for the office of Governor.
