Who is the person you would most like to have seen be President, but who never was President?

Some examples

A Presidential nominee who never won the Presidency.

A candidate for a Presidential nomination who never won a Presidential nomination.

A person who never ran for President who you would like to have seen be President.

A person who will not be running for President who you would like to see become President.
Robert Francis Kennedy, Benjamin Spock, Albert Gore.

What about some of the women from the past:

Margaret Chase Smith
Shirley Chisholm
Susan B. Anthony
Eleanor Roosevelt

Others (men), I would have liked to have seen as President:

Theodore Roosevelt (elected in 1912; not from earlier when he was President, elected on the Bull Moose ticket; this is partly because I've been told I favor him and around the time he was running on the Bull Moose ticket)
Robert M. LaFollette
Samuel Tilden
Robert F. Kennedy
Hubert Humphrey
Adlai Stevenson (from 1952 & 1956)
Al Smith (from 1928; although he would have been left with having to deal with the Great Depression, so, my thoughts are torn on that idea)
Reuben D. Askew (from my old home and birth state of Florida)
John Glenn
Sam Nunn
Terry Sanford
Two more Floridians:  Claude Pepper & George Smathers

And one World War II general that makes my list:

George C. Marshall (he did the most important thing post WWII with the Marshall Plan in keeping more of Europe from going into Communism, so he'd have to be my top choice for a General that never became President)

And one TV news person who has my admiration, again because of the movie:  "Good Night and Good Luck" who'd I would have liked to seen as President:

Edward R. Murrow (although hopefully he would have not been smoking)

Realistically?

Henry Jackson
Bob Dole
Hubert Humphrey
Tom Dewey (Even though Truman is one of my three favorite Presidents, I think Dewey would have been pretty good too)
Al Smith (declared in 1936 that the Democrats had become a pack of socialists)
