Forty eight hours after the sudden resignation of Lincoln's ex-Senator MB in the last hours of October 24th, there is still no explanation given to the public on this unexpected move.

Veggie news, the best source for leeks has no information to report but since we have to fill air time we went to the streets of the nothern region to ask citizens what has prompted the early resignation of MB who was elected to Vice-President of Atlasia.

One university student who was sitting in a park instead of being in class thinks it was a lazy move, vacating office nine days before entering his next job to take a vacation and some free time in the meantime. A lawyer at the coffee shop submits the Senator was confused and thought he had to swear in at the same time of the new regional assembly. A political science professor at Dave University feels if true that would not bode well for the future, to have someone at the highest level of the country's administration not knowing the rules or lacking work ethic.

An old grey haired lady sneezing thinks the sudden resignation without explanation must be related to health issues.

A former political staffer speculate that it was a tactical political move: resign a week earlier than what could be expected very late on October 24th. Very few expect an election so soon on October 26th. There is no time for candidates to declare to be on the ballot so it will be all write ins. There is no time to really campaign. That favors the dominant party in the region.  The political science professor at Dave University feels that would increase voter's  cynicism and mock our democratic system of elections. He doesn't sees the motive to do this since the dominant party of the region would probably win anyways this week or next week.

Many citizens interviewed didn't even know there was a resignation by their Senator or that it was a special election weekend. The 21 year old woman busy taking selfies told us she won't go vote. She would vote for the best looking candidate but she doesn't know what candidates look like or even who are the candidates..

MB was seen exiting a polling station and there are rumours he has left the capital and instead of making a public appearance hangs out in a private club called The Discord, away from the ordinary citizens of his region.

Whatever the true reason of the Senator's early departure from the Senate, the result is a negative effect on the democratic life of the region. A surprise special election with no candidates on the ballot, minimal time for campaigning and less interest from the voters.
