well as of this writing, it is certainly a better bet that casey will become senator than swift becoming governor.

after all, casey is a candidate, while swift is still a private citizen.

i absolutely do believe swift will return to politics someday.  she is young.  her problems were minor.

ted kennedy ran a girl off into a lake and then went home to go to sleep before he bothered calling authorities.  jane swift used a state helicopter for improper reasons.

which is worse?

I don't think anyone in Massachussetts cares about Chappaquiddick anymore.  To them, a vote for Ted is a vote to keep the legacy of JFK alive by having a Kennedy in office.  I've been to Cape Cod many times, where my aunt has a house.  It's crazy how JFK memorabilia has a cult following up there.  He wasn't even that good a president, just young and full of idealism.

That said, I don't know the full extent of what Jane Swift did, but I do know that Casey beating Santorum is a very real possibility.  So, I'm inclined to say Option 2.

brtd you should stop beating up on swift.  the democrats jumped on her because they love to 'shoot the wounded' (ie bob taft)

swift should be your favorite republican.  she is probably closer to your views than that horrible bob casey that you seem to be beating the drum for lately.

Option 1, of course.  Santorum very accurately represents the views of Pennsylvania, and should expect to win by about 10 to 15 points.
