He was also the first nominee to win the presidency without winning a single state in the northeast (second time).

How did you forget that George W Bush won West Virginia?

A total of 7 different Townships in Fairfield County CT voted for Romney in 2012 and Clinton in 2016, including 1 that had never before voted for a Democrat.

Are you sure it didn't vote for LBJ in 1964? he did win Connecticut with almost 70% of the vote.
It voted for Goldwater.

That's interesting.
Of note is that Fairfield County was Goldwater's strongest County in the state, where he barely failed to reach the 40% mark, and then it was Clinton's 2nd strongest County in the state.  Clinton received a lower % than Johnson, but Trump also received a lower % than Goldwater.  For what it is worth, the township went from voting for Romney by 31% to voting for Clinton by 12%.  Clinton was unable to pull downballot Democrats above the line there, however, as it was only 1 of 2 townships in the state that Blumenthal lost by double digits.  Dan Malloy lost it by 37% in 2014.

Donald Trump received the lowest % of votes ever for a Republican nominee in the counties of DuPage, Kane, and Lake.

That is a majority of the Collar counties.

Moving Lake County, Illinois from Illinois to Wisconsin would have flipped Wisconsin from Gore to Bush in 2000, and from Trump to Clinton in 2016.

Obama won the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin by larger margins than he won Minnesota in 2008. Minnesota was then the only state of those 4 to not flip to Trump.

According to this, Monroe County has voted for statewide losers over half the time from all Presidential, Senatorial, and Gubernatorial Elections 1956-2016.

Since 1856, Upstate New York has voted the same as Vermont in every presidential election except 1912 and 2016.

It has sided with Maine in every election except 1968 and 2016.

Define upstate New York...

Based on my calculations, Upstate New York voted Dem in 2016 by 73049 votes.

Howard County, Arkansas Branch County, Michigan was the median County in the 2016 election based on 2-party vote share.

Edit: I recalculated this with slightly more accurate vote totals.

Oglala Lakota is the only County in the nation that both:

Voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016

and

Has a total ban on Alcoholic Drinks

and it just so happened to be among her 5 strongest Counties in the nation (based on share of 2-party vote).

Sam Tilden in 1876 won a majority of electoral votes out of states that picked their electors by popular vote that year. However, Colorado picked its electors by state legislature that year, and they picked Rutherford Hayes. This was the same year that Colorado was admitted to the union, and the final time a state picked its electors by state legislature.

Kansas in 1944 was the only time FDR in any of his 4 presidential runs received less than 40% in a state.

That makes no sense. Branch County, MI was a 67% Trump county.

Actually, it is true; out of 3141 Counties (excluding a small County in the state of Hawaii that is basically only County in title only), 1570 Counties voted to the left of Branch County, Michigan, and 1570 Counties voted to the right of Branch County, Michigan based on the 2016 2-party vote.

The 1960 Election is the only election in which multiple candidates won a County in every state.

Summing all of Tennessee West of the Tennessee River, Trump won by a total of only 2162 votes out of more than 500000 votes cast.

Hillary Clinton needed MI, PA, and WI to win in 2016.

If Tim Drapers plan for Cal3 was reality in 2016, Hillary Clinton would only have needed MI and PA.

Going back to 1884, no Democrat has won all 3 of Orange County, CA; Orange County, FL; and Orange County, NY.

From 1948 through 1988, the GOP swept all 3 counties, except in 1964 when Johnson carried Orange County, NY. In each election since then, the Dem has carried at least one: in 1992 and 1996, Clinton carried Orange County, NY only; in 2000 and 2004, Gore and Kerry carried Orange County, FL only; in 2008 and 2012, Obama carried Orange County, FL and Orange County, NY; and finally in 2016, Clinton carried Orange County, CA and Orange County, FL.

In 2020, Dems will win all 3.

No there is a county map (besides Hawaii) that has looked the same since 2000 (irrespective of the hues).

Arizona?

That's right.
So, in the last 5 elections, every Arizona county voted either R-R-R-R-R or D-D-D-D-D? Fascinating.

It even gets better: Arizona could vote Democrat in two years without changing its county results map.

Democrats are winning Maricopa and Yuma if they win Arizona.
