This is probably the best case scenario for Labour a weakened Tory Gov't presiding over tough Brexit and more austerity cuts. Setting the party up for an outright majority in the next GE.

Exactly. A progressive alliance was never going to work.

So what have been some of the most shocking results so far?

Mr. Fishfinger's surprising results in his attempt to boot out the Liberal Democrat leader.

Forgive my dumb questions, but is a Northern Ireland party propping up an otherwise minority government in a hung parliament something that's ever happened before?

Yes, the UUP propped up Major in 1995 after nine Eurosceptic Tories had the whip suspended and eliminated the government majority.

The Callaghan government had to rely on NI votes as well.

Going back to before Irish independence, Asquith was reliant on Irish Nationalists after the Liberals lost their majority in the two 1910 elections.

What has made Orkney and Shetland such a safe Lib Dem seat, even when other Scottish seats fell to the SNP in 2015?

A Few Things
-The fact that an election that's supposed to be a sort of victory for Labour might end up with the UK having Boris Johnson as the next prime minister is glorious.
-Ruth Davidson Looks like the happiest woman alive RN (rightfully so)
-Londoners Backlashed
-UKIP voters appeared to back....labour

Isn't it a wonderful election? I'm just happy that May is looking like she's toast.

Tories hold Finchlay and golders green

I think jewish voters saved the tories

Almost as if liberal Jewish voters have a limit.

Anyway, it's an ugly night, but a win is a win. Civilization stays intact, it seems.

If May would have kept her trap shut about scrapping human rights laws and censoring the Internet, the Tories might have gotten at minimum their majority.

I wish sane Tories like her could take control of the party, but that's wishful thinking at this point.

It's awfully strange that the pacifist socialist was able to win back UKIP voters.

It just is. It's always been Liberal. The old Liberals used to do well in rural, ethnically distinct areas (such as Cornwall in England).

Wasn't Ruth Davidson one of the most moderate Tories out there though?   She's really their hero tonight.   I'd hope they consider her success in Scotland as a way forward.

Corbyn did better than Blair's last election.

Current predictions are that he's not far off Blair's 2001 result.
