(ok, disregard the millions for now)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_east/4134448.stm

Hundreds of people queued at a dentist in Denbighshire, after it opened for new registrations for just one day.

Up to 300 would-be NHS patients started queueing at 0700 BST on Tuesday outside in Chapel Street, Llangollen.

(snip)

Queues around Wales have become a familiar sight

(snip)

Queues to register with new health service practices in rural Wales are no longer unusual - in July 2003 more than 600 people waited patiently in line when a surgery opened its doors in Carmarthen.

Oh, truely MARVELOUS.  Lets compare that to Canada.  In Canada, our universal health care excludes dentists.  As a result, we have about 25 dentists in our town and 2 doctors.  There are NO lineups and NO waiting.

Is this anything like how I had to wait 11 YEARS[/i] to see a dentist (thanks to the the horrible American "health" "care" "system")?

Funny, I'm able to see the dentist every 6 months, don't know what the deal with you is.

New America must have a severe shortage of dentists.  Last time I made an appointment here, I was able to see one the next day.

The main problem with dentistry is to do with the fact that there aren't enough NHS Dentists... not that there aren't enough Dentists.

The US actually has a fair number of dentists in the Public Health Service, though fewer than there used to be. My dad got money from the PHS for dental school (Georgetown) in exchange for a few years of service. Was assigned to rural Virginia, southwest of Charlottesville. Interestingly the PHS is adminstered like the military (workers have rank), not like regular executive agencies (with GS levels).
