Trump already admitted in that Holt interview that he basically fired Comey because of the Russia investigation. While this further backs that perspective up, I don't think it is necessary to establish his motives behind Comey's dismissal. Trump seemed to go out of his way to make it clear why he did it.

Yeah... seriously.  I'm just beginning to think our president just isn't that smart!  An outrageous ego doesn't substitute well for a decent intellect.  Of course I think it's more that the ego gets in the way and has for so long it makes him appear stupid.  He is calculating things in a different reality.

Specifically the conspiracy theory is that Trump fired Comey because he wanted to stop the "Russia/DNC hack" investigation. There is absolutely nothing in this leaked doc that says that this was the reason for Comey's  firing, nor has Trump ever said that this was the reason, nor is there any other evidence for this theory. However the Trump derangement syndrome people are so desperate for validation of their conspiracy theories that they jump all over docs like this and imagine they say things that they don't.
