Seven unknown candidates have filed to challenge Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels. Two candidates will move on after the September primary to the general election. One will certainly be Nickels, but what about the other person? Unfortunately, not much is known about a few of the candidates.

RICHARD LEE
Has been investigating for years whether Nirvana's Kurt Cobain was actually murdered. Umm, OK.

OMARI TAHIR-GARRETT
Convicted felon. Was sent to prison for assaulting former mayor Paul Schell. Illegaly re-registered to vote. When asked about whether his voting rights were restored, he said "rights are not defined or proscribed by EUROPEAN SETTLER COLONIAL TERRORIST ESTABLISHED INSTITUTIONS HERE IN THE 'INDIANS' HOMELAND!" Will likely be removed from the ballot.

CHRISTAL WOOD
An administrator at Lutheran Community Services. A do-nothing liberal idealist. She's one of those stupid anti-everything people.

AL RUNTE
Former University of Washington professor. Can't find anything about him.

CHRIS HOEPPNER
Union organizer who works in a meatpacking factory. Although the race is non-partisan, he is with the Socialist Workers Party.

LUKE WILLIAMS
An unknown, basically just a resident.

JEANNE DIXON
An unknown, basically just a resident.

If Nickles gets 51%, doesn't he automatically win?

I don't know. I decided I didn't care enough to look up Seattle's election system. Smiley

^ I'm fine with it! I wouldn't want to have to worry about such a great mayor losing re-election.
