Ignore Krazen. He's trying to rile you up and if you want his actual opinions read RRH. Or ask him what his RRH post on the subject is. I'm pretty sure I could find him on a few other center right blogs where he's less “incendiary.” He's actually a lot more cautious which is your tell about the behavior.

Anyway this seat now goes to the Democrats and most likely whether the seat stays Democratic hinges on the governorship in 2018. Federal office is more partisan than state office. So, Democrats in WV can win the governorship but they suck on federal races.

He's a top five poster over there, no joke. Smart as a whip and insightful. We should consider banning him for 30 days until he stops trolling and contributes like many of us know he's perfectly capable of. It'd be a boon for Atlas in more than one way to have Good Krazen here.

Anyways, yeah. The Miami area isn't growing as fast as Orlando/Tampa - will be interesting to see the 2020 maps after the next census

As I understand it, he was banned for over a year some time ago and as soon as he came back for the 2016 election, he was doing the same thing as before, but with some 'tweaks' to avoid getting banned for the same thing again. That he has spent years doing this is a testament to how screwed up he is, and how unwilling he is to be respectful. His goal is to agitate liberals, period. He doesn't want to be a quality poster here. He just wants to ruin it for everyone else.

Anitere Flores is probably the best Republican candidate for FL-27.   Not really sure on the Democratic side.   Can Jose Rodriguez run here?

Edit - Annette Taddeo should stick to running in FL-26 since that's going to be the more difficult race now.

JJR is a "maybe" - says he'll give it a "hard look" after session. He is probably the best candidate for the seat, but Rosen Gonzalez is already in and she should do fine—it's uphill for the GOP no matter what.

In your experience, are most oppo researchers intern-level or are there plenty of grizzled pros? (Asking for a writing project)

Interns for most low level stuff/introductory queries. When the Rubio gay porn rumors surfaced they were very eager to take everything I had and ship it off to someone with the resources (and the will) to search for the possible tapes in Miami's seedy gay underbelly. Nothing ever came from it.

Is that kind of thing kept in-house or does the party hire PI's with experience?

I'm picturing you having to sit in a dark room pouring over hours and hours of gay pornography looking for Marco Rubio. It's a fun mental image.

Unless the GOP raids Cuban Narnia to find a unicorn for this seat (as the MH put it) this seat is Likely Democratic. The trends are YUGE against the GOP here and Ros-Leiten being her kept this seat for them. Now, it's very much in doubt. This might trigger a chain reaction of retirements in the area if people think she left because she didn't want to lose (which is possible). Lot of good candidates we are getting for this seat and Sen District 40.

JJR is a veteran campaigner who has had to win almost every single one of his elections in a tough, up hill battle. He's capable, competent and can make do with literally almost no help from state or national partes (look how he made do with what he had to defeat an enterenched GOP incumbent who had deep ties to the area last year).

I would usually say that as he's been a senator for so short he wouldn't run, but this is a golden opportunity for anyone in this area of miami to get straight up to federal politics.

Hopefully the wave will be big enough to knock out Curbelo as well.

Curbello will have a race on his hands. Diaz-Balart is untouchable though.

No,  I expect they'll both be competitive.   Diaz-Balart is not an entrenched incumbent, and FL-25 isn't heavily conservative anymore.

FL-25 voted for Trump and Diaz-Balart is a perfect fit. You don't need multiple decades to become entrenched.

I had hoped that redistricting would strip away the Everglades portion of the seat and make it a compact Hialeah-based seat contained entirely in Miami Dade, but it was not to be.

FL-25 only barely voted for Trump and that was because of the Collier County portion which is more Republican than Miami-Dade County. More likely than not it will be contested, since Democrats have a limited offense list to play from.

Take a bare Trump win and add Diaz-Balart performing at least 10 points better among hispanics and that district looks a lot less contestable.

If the Democrats can't even contest a district Trump won by not even 2 points then what the heck are they supposed to do?

The presidential numbers make it contestable in a midterm election. You have to play a lot of places to win.
