In his first 100 days, Trump has escalated tensions with North Korea, threaten to pull out of the US-South Korean free-trade agreement, has demanded South Korea pay for the THAAD system it only recently agreed to deploy (after being pressured to do so by the US military, under Obama).

South Korea is an important US trading partner, but also has growing economic ties to China. The deployment of THAAD has been a controversial issue domestically, and Trump's latest move  is likely to aid the liberal party, which is not particularly aligned with the US, in upcoming elections.

Is there anything else Trump could plausibly do that would destabilize the Korean peninsula more, or be more damaging to US interests in the region?
