This election, as well as comments here, make it clear that the far left is as worst as the far right.

mostly ignorants, who don't get europe.

or only make economical points.

can someone explain to me why exit polls are so much more definitive in europe than america.

smaller countries, easier to "check" and those haven't even been exit polls, imho but early key numbers from strongholds.

wouldn't call the traditional right dead in france, fillon did pretty well if you remember that he had collected SOOO much baggage and got some internal strife and macron defections.

Silly question....

are there many big city counties included right now or does that work like everywhere?

advantage for classical lefties:

if macron breaks up the frozen structure holding back france and is able to succeed, the socialists won't be blamed and are able to heal their wounds, while we could all appreciate the outcome.

it's still a shame that renzi was knee-capped.

trump and brexit are still there, so eu going into isolation if macron wins

if one state leaves 28, i guess the 28 states are the isolated ones.

anyway, macron is the hero we needed in the hour of desperation.

What exactly is so heroic about him? Has he achieved anything noteworthy as someone who has indeed had access to the levers of power?

i am ofc counter-trolling a d troll point but he is a pro-western, anti-putin moderate promising to reshape france in imho needed ways at a moment when i was sure, fillon or le pen was the end-game.

One thing that should not be forgotten is that while Macron is definitely the least bad of the four candidates who were thought to have a chance of making it into the run-off simply by virtue of being the only one who wasn't anti-EU, he's still pretty awful.  He's not so much the hero we needed as the least destructive villain.

I can respect that notion, i just believe that france (and italy) need some hurtful short-term changes to be better at offering a long-term welfare-net for its citizens.

As Taniel noted, the difference between Macron and Le Pen is bigger than between LP and Melenchon.

if the first round polls were off enough to exclude macron....biggest upset in a LOOOONG time...

if the second round polls would be off enough to make le pen the winner.....biggest possible french upset ever and would make mincemeat out of the polling companies.

the russian intelligence...i mean wikileaks...would need to drop more or less "believable" stuff on a whole new level and even that would not secure a le pen victory. even francois "baggage" fillon would have been the favorite and no one can still remember all of his faults ans mistakes at this point.

good to see, even a country living in constant danger like israel realizes that le pen is a whole different animal even than wilders.

if marine is clever - and her young base is a good indicator - she should bury FN and make a new movement.

pro-putin, anti-eu super-right-wing, economically populist, french-holocaust-support-questioning LR candidate would seem quite far-right. yeah.
