Okay, here's a map of the overseas results:

Macron
Le Pen
Fillon
Melenchon
Hamon/Fillon tie

Some interesting results -
- Le Pen won precisely one country's overseas vote - Djibouti.
- Fillon cleaned it up in Syria, which he won with over 70% of the vote.
- Libya was an exact tie between Fillon and Hamon - 3 votes each!

Le Pen did well in a part of Argentina, getting 32%.

It would appear that Assomption is Asunción, which is the capital of Paraguay. Paraguay is not in the list of countries so I assume they throw it together with Argentina or something like that.

The same thing happens with Guatemala, where Tegucigalpa (capital of Honduras) appears in the list in the Guatemala section.

I would guess that the consular services in Asunción are run through the Argentine embassy.

The light blue is for Fillon, right? If so, Fillon won Portugal.

Where did you find the results? I've search and search and i can't find the overseas vote by country.

Yes, Fillon narrowly won Portugal with 35.86% of the vote. Here's the source I used to make the map: https://ca.ambafrance.org/Election-presidentielle-Resultats-du-premier-tour-pour-les-Francais-de-l

Fantastic!! Thank you!!

So, Portugal's results are:

35.86% Fillon
33.61% Macron
12.35% Mélenchon
  7.85% Le Pen
  6.49% Hamon
  1.62% NDA
  0.75% Asselineau
  0.70% Poutou
  0.37% Lassalle
  0.28% Arthaud
  0.12% Cheminade

Very interesting that Portugal is the only western European country, apart from Andorra, to vote for Fillon. In 2012 we also voted, in both rounds, for Sarkozy. The French community in Portugal seems to be very conservative. The good fiscal conditions for pensioners from other EU countries have resulted in many French elders residing in Portugal. Maybe this influences the result.

That's the famous Argentinean city of Assomption, also known as Asunción, the capital of Paraguay (which is it's own country, and not part of Argentina)

Here's a map of the top 2 candidates in each Department:

FBM/Panzergirl
FBM/Fillon
FBM/Mélenchon
Panzergirl/Fillon
Panzergirl/Mélenchon

Is it the first election ever when a majority of the Departments did not have the top-2 as the nation as a whole? 2002 might be a possibility, but I'm not sure.

Doesn't matter, his floor is similar to Ma Ying-jeou's performance in 2008 (58.45).

Yeah, Le Pen can only get to 45% with extremely low turnout and/or an increased amount of Fillon/Melenchon/Dupont voters backing her somehow.

Or, if the recent controversial Van der Bellen comments make it into the FN headquarters in the next days ...

if a minor gaffe by the President of Austria causes a swing in this election, I will literally tattoo a map of Austria on my bum.

It seems like the candidates outside the top 5 go 8.74% of the vote.  This is very surprising. I would figure given a near 4 way tie for first two spots there would be significant tactical voting.  Dupont-Aignan vote share is shocking and much to the loss of Le Pen and Fillon.

Yeah, I thought the smaller candidates would get 4% combined, not 9%.

The map if Hamon had dropped out, and 50% of his voters had voted to Jean-Luc Mélenchon while 30% to Emmanuel Macron, as suggested by polls.

Carrying on the map theme (blatantly ripping off Antonio's one).

The combined score of the left (Hamon + Mélenchon + Poutou + Arthaud) by department.

Anything marked with a star in the 25-30% category is where their combined score was above the national average of 27.67%

https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-04-26/le-pen-ambushes-macron-with-french-plant-trip-to-attack-on-trade

good move from Marine. Her campaign for the runoff is very good. Not enough to be elected of course.

Macron is going to be very unpopular very soon (faster than Hollande, if possible).

Also Pied-noirs.  Plus higher unemployment because of lack of a value producing industry other than tourism which feeds into resentment.

I was not under the impression that all that many Muslim immigrants move to Corsica...why would they (apart from sunny weather)? Its remote, economically depressed etc...
