100% counted:

24.01% Macron

21.30% Le Pen
20.01% Fillon
19.58% Mélenchon
  6.36% Hamon
  3.56% NDA
  1.21% Lassalle
  1.09% Poutou
  0.92% Asselineau
  0.64% Arthaud
  0.18% Cheminade

So basically, Le Pen was closer to Melenchon than to Macron, AND made the run-off only by 1.3 points.

Well, at least Fillon could claim he cross 20%

Is there a link for consulate-level results for the US and other countries? I have a suspicion about how Atlanta voted but I'd like to check.

Although I'm amused that 8 people voting in Israel voted for a LaRouche candidate.

Does the president have to step down as party leader? Because if not it makes no sense

Nah, she just does it in an attempt to attract people who may vote for her but don't like the FN brand.

If it's anything like 2012, the French have their own way of dividing the US that doesn't quite correspond to states.

That really doesn't make sense, other to infuriate mapmakers.

Is anyone here going to say without a doubt that Le Pen won't be the next President of France? Or are they like me now, someone who just won't feel comfortable until the results are final?

Macron + Hamon is over 30%. Fillon and Melenchon pulled about 40%. Do you seriously think he won't get the majority of their voters?

Someone who did not have the last name of Le Pen could have maybe got away with that move, and gone on to challenge. Maybe like her sister, Marine was a reluctant frontiste but knew she had to play the long game to get to the 2nd round and is now hanging all of them out to dry. She will never get away from being her father's daughter.

Or they just want free publicity after an underwhelming result.
Its a strange move.

I think it's the later. Everything the Le Pens do is for publicity and has been for 45 years. I am still not convinced that familial falling out wasn't a con.

Elabe poll

Macron 64%
Le Pen 36%

And by the way, if the polls were all correct it seems that the closest to the final result was the last Elabe poll published Friday.

They had Macron at 24%, Le Pen at 21.5%, Fillon at 20%, Mélenchon at 19.5%.

Here's Hash's map from 2012. You can see the full version on imgur here.

Basically NoCal, New Mexico, and Louisiana for Hollande and everyone else for Sarkozy. I'd be curious to see the demographics of French expats in Louisiana and why they're more leftist than others.

if marine is clever - and her young base is a good indicator - she should bury FN and make a new movement.

Since we all like discussing unusual political theories...

Discuss how the Angevin Empire affects current day French politics.

The Plantegenet's ruled both England and France.

Fillon is from the Sarthe, whose capital, Le Mans was the birth place of Henry II of England.

Fillon has a British wife and was attempting to implement a distinctly Anglo-Saxon brand of economic policies.

This has conpiracy written all over it.
