Btw, massive left-wing violence in Paris. Seems that the domestic terrorists aren't happy with a Neoliberal and a Patriot fighting it out ^^

Le Pen is running in 5th in Paris, lol

Are there any French people still living?

No, it's 78% morrocan, 28% Turks and 16% chinese

The sad truth is, that you're not far away from reality...

Wikipedia is your friend; the area is overwhelmingly "born in Metropolitan France": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5th_arrondissement_of_Paris#Immigration

Very little research needs to be done to discover that the area is very wealthy and overwhelmingly white.

Born in France does not mean that they are French ;-) But ok, I know that for you guys a sheep born in a chicken coop is a chicken, not a sheep...

By that definition, does it mean I am not American since I am 2nd generation?

well one error i made in my prediction is that I assumed more Les Republicans would last minute decide "eh, Fillon's scandals aren't that bad" and vote Fillon. Polls were pretty much dead on.

I noticed that in Mayotte, with is 97% Muslim, Fillon wins with 33% and Le Pen is second with 27%. Also voted very right-wing in 2012 as well.

They don't like migrants coming over from the Comoros.

Also, Mayotte was basically created by putting all the anti-independence supporters on one island when Comoros became independent.

Then what is French identity? Genetic? Whiteness? Culture? And if so, how do you discriminate between Frenchness and non-Frenchness? Is this true for the United States as well? Are some American citizens not Americans?

I mean in fairness, equating "Born in Metropolitan France" and "not being Muslim" at the very least points to some sort of implicit bias.

ANYWAY--

Quick question re: results...would one be able to say that Le Pen underperformed tonight?

I was not born in the United States, but I only have American citizenship. Am I still American in your eyes?

Congratulations, you win the grand prize!  That's the most ridiculous analogy I've seen yet (in 9 years on this forum).

Comparing different ethnicities of humans with different species of animals is textbook racism. Hell, Mein Kampf has a whole chapter with such comparisons.

I don't think so. The latest polls showed her at around 22%, the result she achieved tonight. The polls were fantastically accurate. A big applause for them! Cheesy

The polling? No. She was consistently in second place all this week.

Expectations? Well, most of the media outside of France crowned her la presidente several years ago...

More from that Ipsos poll for second round voting:

Can't read French, but I'm pretty sure that table with the red banner shows the preferences of Mélenchon, Hamon, and Fillon voters. According to this, Le Pen isn't drawing too much support from Mélenchon voters as it was hypothesized.

Looking at the polls, no.  Personally, since I thought she would surprise and come out on top, yes.

She also underperformed the regional election by several points assuming she stays ~22%...
