France 24 said some polling institutes have Le Pen and Macron tied.  Which ones do?

Les Republicains already calling for a Pro-Macron vote.

Embarrassing.

LFA spokeswoman on France 2 claims Mélenchon can still make it through the big city vote. Of course that's bullsh*t.
Are the exit polls that precise? Only 2 points seperate the JLM and Le Pen in some exit polls.
They are estimates based on key votes in the rural areas, not an exit poll

If only the US's elections were like that.

But sometimes, the suspense can be exhilarating.

This is not an exit poll. It's a projection based on actual votes which have already been counted.

Hamon calls Le Pen "enemy of the Republic."

If an enemy of the French people calls you an "enemy of the Republic", then you know that you're right ^^

8pm projections are usually spot on.

The France Insoumise lady did point out that Le Pen was estimated at 20% to start with in 2012, and ended up under 18%

Not just rural, but all areas of France, including his so-called strongholds in big city's.

The only time three people were included in the top two projection was 1995. If they're confident enough to just put up two, I would trust their projection.

Second Round is going to be boring. Le Pen has no chance to be elected, the parliamentary elections are more interesting.

Anyone know when actual results will come in?

RIP the Socialist Party, and despite Macron moving forward (maybe because of it), this is incredibly rough result for the left.

I mean say what you will about the disastrous campaign of Fillon, but his party managed 20% of the vote despite their candidate being exposed as a crook. The right survives

It may be a rough night for the Socialist Party but not for the "left" when you have Melenchon winning almost 20% and when Macron is widely viewed at the candidate Hollande privately supported

Thanks everyone, I didn't realize the projections were based on counted votes, as I didn't find any online vote counts yet.

Hope lives on!

This post relies on the assumption that Macron (or Hollande, for that matter) is "the left." There is little reason to think that is the case.

Not possible, given the big cities only finished voting at 8

People in Fillon's camp calling for Fillon's voters to vote Le Pen.

Are we seeing a split with the Republicans?

Just personally, a depressingly sad night for Hamon whom I was always impressed by, but four months ago I was sure that I would have to support Fillon with a closed nose, so there's a little hope.

I wonder if MLP and allies will be ousted as leader after this election, especially if she underperforms in the second round and legislature? She didn't really boost the 2012 vote despite favourable conditions and seemed to run a fairly anaemic campaign compared to some other similar candidates.

I also wonder whether NDA can use this good score to grab a good result in the legislature.

God Gérard Collomb is a piece of sh*t. I hate FBM and I hate his supporters. I can't believe I'm going to vote for these technocratic neoliberal sh*theads.

I don't care. I'm so proud to be in the 6% who made the right choice. The 94% can go screw themselves.
