I don't believe for a second that 52% of French people have a clue who Jesse Klaver is.

This just proves that pollsters are morons. What's the point of asking such a question if the respondent will answer based on superficial cues?

Probably won't stop the Flawless Beautiful Landslide Sunday, but still kind of creepy.

Probably won't stop the Flawless Beautiful Landslide Sunday, but still kind of creepy.

Don't worry.

This will massively backfire on Le Pen and the voters will wipe her out on Sunday. I really strongly doubt the French are as stupid to vote based on anything in these hacks. Turnout will likely increase to around 78-80% because of the hack and the people of France will deliver a solid spanking to her.

FBM will win comfortably, but I'm pretty sure turnout will be down from the first round.

So I cast my Flawless Beautiful vote (which I'm no doubt going to curse myself for throughout the next 5 years) today at the polling station in Burbank. The poll workers said turnout was way up from the first round, so that's encouraging. I also couldn't help rummaging through the dustbin inside the voting booth, and unsurprisingly I found a dozen of Le Pen ballots there and only one for FBM.

The ballots are called "bulletins" and are actually small cards with one for each candidate. When you go up to vote, you take all of them, go into the booth, and insert the candidate for whom you wish to vote into the envelope. I suppose you trash the rest!

You can either trash them or take them home, yeah. I usually take them home and keep them as memories (I did that for the first round), but this time I just crumpled Panzergirl and threw her in the trash where she belongs. So at least one of the two candidate got what they deserved from me.

Guys, it would also be nice not to post leaks or early exit poll results or anything from the Belgian/Swiss TV or newspapers.

Just post the links and not the actual results/leaks.

Thx.

Especially since they would be fake anyway.

74% turnout is terrible. There's going to be millions of blank votes, so the real turnout is probably going to be below 70% - the lowest since 1969. I'm pretty sure most of those are people who said they were voting for FBM. Not good.

9% blank and spoiled votes. Presumably out of all votes cast, so that's about 6.5% of registered voters. Which means valid turnout is about 68%. Pretty pathetic.

Panzergirl suggesting she'll try to turn the FN into a new "movement" of some kind. Not sure if the bigwigs will be happy about that.

2nd round vote by 1st round voters:

Not surprising, large chunk of the left throwing a tantrum there. "Marcon and LePen are the sames!!1!1!1".

53% of Mélenchon voters supported FBM, but only 48% of Fillon's did, but of course a right-winger like you only takes issue with the former. Roll Eyes

They really have nothing to lose by it though, a lot of them probably support LePen in some way and if they don't vote and she wins/loses their ok. But it's a clear option for Melenchon voters, either you support Marcon or you run the risk of a fascist winning. Very easy choice to make which makes it much more bizarre.

So it's OK to vote for a fascist if you're one of the people who do well under fascism? Gotcha.

LOL no, they are the only ones who voted for Fillon.

Then by your logic they should have heavily voted for LePen but they didn't, voted strongest for Macron.

They are mostly rich right-wingers who primarily care about their pocketbooks. They agree with Panzergirl on almost every issue but know that leaving the Euro would screw them over, so they hold their nose and vote for FBM (whose economic policies will still be sympathetic to their interests anyway).

What's up with Aisne swinging hard right? Hollande won it by 5 points but Le Pen leads by 11, but there's still a lot of vote to count.

This runoff is not between the left and the right.

I'm just trying to understand why the only three departments Le Pen is currently leading in also happen to be places where Hollande won.

Because many voters would prefer a left-winger to a right-winger but prefer a candidate like Panzergirl to one like FBM. There's nothing strange about that.

Yeah there are many strange things about that.  I guess some on the french left just like racist propaganda.

Whatever you think of it, it's really not hard to understand if you're not politically illiterate.

FBM won 168 of the 174 municipalities with over 25k inhabitants. The Realignment is real, folks.

Nope, there are only some 150K votes left to be counted from overseas.

Actually, Macron is at 66.04% right now - so with all that is left (very pro-Macron), he'll only get to 66.1% max.

I think he meant the French Abroad vote. I'm pretty sure they will push him up to at least 66.5%.

Yeah, I was talking about the French Abroad vote. It's almost completely in. There's only 140K left if you look at the Interior Ministry page. It's 99.99% counted.

What page are you looking at?

Actually, the "inscrits" figures have usually shifted between the two rounds - both downwards and upwards, depending on the election. I have no clue why that is, but they did. So there might be a couple more votes left (or a couple less).
