34. Thomas Dewey / Earl Warren (Republican): 1949-1953

36. Nelson Rockefeller / Thurston Morton (Republican): 1961-1969
37. Hubert Humphrey / Terry Sanford (Democratic): 1969-1973

41. Pete Wilson / James Thompson (Republican): 1993-2001
42. Dick Gephardt / Joe Biden (Democratic): 2001-2009

45. Paul Ryan / Nikki Haley (Republican): 2021-2025
46. Tom Steyer / Pete Buttigeig (Democratic): 2025-2029
47. Nikki Haley / Dan Crenshaw (Republican): 2029-2033
48. Jon Ossof / Tammy Baldwin (Democratic): 2033-Incumbent

Had Obama lost in 2012, they’d be talk about the 8 year curse. Harry Truman, Richard Nixon and George Bush all lost re-election or resigned (Nixon) after being elected in a year ending with 8

It even goes further back because Hoover (1928), Taft (1908) and Harrison (1888) all lost their reelection bid, and Hoover and Taft did so by a landslide margin.

Before Obama Grant was the last president to serve two full terms while being elected in a year ending with 8.

We'll have to see if the winner in 2028 has Obama's luck or if they suffer the fate of the others elected in a year ending in 8.

2028 will be interesting. And before the American Civil War, Andrew Jackson (1829-1837) and James Madison (1809-1817) also served two full terms after being elected in a year ending with 8.

The revolving Twenties. Jon Ossoff in 2032 breaks the curse and is the first POTUS since Barack Obama to serve two full terms.

POD is Hillary wins in 2016 and it sets off a series of one-term presidents in the 2020s in close elections. 1/6 happens in 2025 and Trump is impeached, removed and barred from running while Christie serves out the remainder of Trump’s presidency without a VP.

45. Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Tim Kaine (D-VA) 2017-2021

46. Donald J. Trump (R-NY)/Chris Christie (R-NJ) 2021-2025

47. Chris Christie (R-NJ)/none 2025-2025

48. Kamala Harris (D-CA)/Reuben Gallego (D-AZ) 2025-2029

49. Ron De Santis (R-FL)/Nikki Haley (R-SC) 2029-2033

50. Jon Ossoff (D-GA)/Lauren Underwood (D-IL) 2033-2041

The 2020s are like the 1920s. 2028 is unique with two cabinet members on the GOP ticket and in 2032 the two main candidates are women.

2021-2023: Senator John R. Kasich (R-OH)/Governor Charlie Baker (R-MA)
2023: Vice President Charlie Baker/vacant
2023-2029: President Charlie Baker (R-MA)/Secretary of State Nikki Haley (R-SC)
2029-2033: Secretary of State Nikki Haley (R-SC)/Attorney General Brian Sandoval (R-NV)

Like Father, Like Son

1961-1969: Al Gore Sr./Adlai Stevenson II*
1969-1977: George W. Romney/George H. W. Bush
1977-1985: Birch Bayh/Mo Udall
1985-1993: Paul Laxalt/Thomas Kean Sr.
1993-2001: Al Gore Jr./Adlai Stevenson III
2001-2009: Mitt Romney/George W. Bush
2009-2017: Evan Bayh/Mark Udall
2017-2025: Adam Laxalt/Thomas Kean Jr.

* Stevenson died in 1965 after a heart attack in London. I'm assuming that likely being in the White House with access to the best medical care in the world could have saved his life.

January 20, 2013 - January 20, 2021
def 2012: John McCain / Tom Ridge
def 2016: Mitt Romney / Paul Ryan

President John McCain faces strong disapproval for his response to a slow recovering economy, with wages shrinking for the middle and working class, rising for the wealthy, and no sign of the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan ending. President McCain's approval falls to 26% during the summer 2011 troop surge in Iraq. Trump, campaigns with the moniker "Make America Great Again" looking to end the wars and American imperialism overseas, holding big corporations accountable, cutting taxes for the middle class, and shaking up Washington DC. Trump's populist message resonates across party lines, he gains the support of former Presidents Limbaugh, Clinton, and Harkin, wins in a 398-135 landslide in 2012, 425 to 108 in 2016, as the Republican party fails to let go of it's white collar, country club, corporate image, and neoconservative foreign policy.

Rand Paul
46th President of the United States
January 20, 2021 - January 20, 2029
def 2020: Barack Obama / Gretchen Whitmer
def 2024: Joe Biden / Kamala Harris

President Trump has near universal approval from Democrats and strong approvals from Republicans through 2019, but faces backlash inside the Democratic party for allowing states to dictate COVID-19 mitigation policies. Incumbent VP and Dem nominee Barack Obama campaigns on the administration's vaccine development, while slightly distancing himself from his boss on mitigation. On the Republican side, Rand Paul pleads for the Republican Party to lose unpopular tired policies, campaigns on shaking up DC, cutting taxes, regulations, and being a Trump ally in the Senate. Paul wins the nomination over Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mitt Romney, and Jeb Bush. The general election is close, with PA and Arizona results not coming in for days. Paul is projected to win PA to pass 270 electoral votes at 11:30pm ET on November 6, 2020, and be elected the nation's 46th President.
