What is this non-sense about Ground Troops? Are those people flying the jets not humans? Are 1000's of special ops people in Syria not humans? All of them not can die. And many innocent Syrians will die in this ensuing tangle with Russia. This is non-sense !

There's clearly a huge numerical difference. And if you hadn't noticed, people in Syria are already dying in large numbers. Assad and Putin are seeing to that even without America there.

You are normalizing deaths - That is a horrible viewpoint, yea this is brutal & many will die but is less horrible as an all out ground war.  And they are dying because of these ridiculous decisions including the one's to overthrow Saddam. People are continuing to die in Libya. Let's be honest, this is about installing a puppet at the helm, another Al Qaeda government & then that Al Qaeda will again attack in the future, like we all haven't seen that already !

Even Germany & Canada are refusing to blame Assad till an investigation is completed - The rebels are even worse & use chemical weapons. Now Russia has suspended air safety cooperation - Seriously folks !

Yes, but shouldn't have been done so quickly.

Yes and expanded no-fly zones and elimination of the rest of the Syrian AF. Against full on intervention at this stage.

Lean no. Now, the pressure is going to be on Trump to escalate military action if Assad refuses to back down, and that scares me a little.

Wow. Interesting that so many Dems are happy with Trump being "tough".

Well, well, well... I hope it will kill a Trump-Russia-Collaboration narrative and give a boost to Trump approval rating. Then Trump & Sessions can also be "tough" on domestic policies. Bloodthirsty Dems deserved it.

Absolutely the right thing to do.  When Schmuckey is praising Trump, you know the support is bi-partisan.

No. Firstly, I think Assad did what he did because he's been allowed to get away with it and that is our fault. As much as it's nice to see Trump has some sort of conscience, striking immediately because of TV pictures (and in response to human slaughter, rather than military action) might be the sort of thing you and I would want to do (and it's what I would want to do), but not the sort of thing a President should be doing. Particularly if you tell the Russians who tell the Syrians and the net effect is nothing. You can act just as swiftly and indeed more effectively if you coordinate your response.

If the US is going to go isolationist (worked so well in the past, right?) and give up its spot as the most powerful nation in the world, please do tell us before so that we can ally Russia or China.
Sincerely, your endangered allies.

Excuse me? Which side is it that has been aiding radical Islamists? US government intervention in Iraq, Syria, Libya and elsewhere has led to the strengthening and empowering of radical Islamists. And which country is it that has propped up the government of Saudi, the main promoter of radical Islamism. And who are these charming Syrian gentlemen with Mccain? Libertarians perhaps or maybe social democrats.

If Trump wants to stop radical Islamism then maybe he could get the US government to stop supporting it in Syria and find a peace deal in Syria that keeps it out of power. The Russian and Chinese would support that.

Yes, something should have been done years ago. Only thing is I supported Obama when he wanted to go in and my political views don't change depending on who's in power.

Yes, it shows a clear message. Assad did an absolutely horrible thing, killing 80+ people from his country and poisoning many more. It also shows how pro-Putin Trump is. Even leading Democrats have praised him so it is telling.

My gut feeling is that I will get some grim satisfaction as Bashir Assad and his bloodiest henchmen dangle at the ends of ropes. I fear that this war between the US and Syria will become a mess as did wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, not so much because the country is Syria but because the President is Donald Trump, who knows neither caution nor restraint.

I have much more concern about Syria.

the anti-daesh-coalition near to raqqa doesn't need russia's help at this point.

Nope. It's "muh disgusting regime change hyper-aggressive U.S. foreign policy destroying our economy, killing our soldiers, and creating even more problems for us in the Middle East."
