Unless a Democrat runs as well, King should be safe.

Unless a prominent Democrat runs as well. King beat a Democrat in 2012.

Bruce Poliquin should run, IMO.  He's also popular among the Paulist wing of the GOP.

He should either run for reelection in his district or for governor (though that would be a risky move), but not against King.
Isn't having served as governor basically a prerequisite for being elected US senator in Maine?

Well, Collins ran for governor, but came in 3rd. And Snowe was First Lady, but not governor. If I recall correctly, the last governor to become senator before King was Muskie.

Mitchell also ran for governor but lost narrowly to Jim Longley.

This guy looks like he has skeletons in his closet. Like, actual skeletons. That face screams "I have candy in my van". Angus isn't going anywhere. Dems should either fall in line behind him or nominate someone with no shot like that horrendous hack Cynthia Dill.

Diane Russell is interested, and she has those ethics investigations hanging over her head...

Well, Brakey gets to lose twice now: First in my TL, then in real life.
