I think these are two nice sets of very good states, but I'd have to go with the Dole states - my favorite ones would be MT, AK, UT, TX, WY and SC.

My favorite Dukakis states would be WV, WI, IA and OR.

Dukakis has less Flyover Country and better weather, so Dukakis it is.

Better weather? Maybe Hawaii, but the majority of those suck

I actually don't dislike any of the Dukakis states.

My pure hatred of the pit that is Massachusetts will automatically make me pick any group it is not included in.

F**k you too, buddy.

I'm sure you're a great person, your state is an expensive pit and I hate it.

Dukakis states don't include the South, so I voted for them, though honestly all four of the best states in the Union (AK/MT/CO/UT) are included in the Dole group. There isn't any Dukakis state that I really dislike (except for RI, I suppose, and even there it's really just pointless).

Not a single Dole state simultaneously has a ban on Capital Punishment, and is not overly reliant on non-renewable energy in its economy.
