The Republican senator would not say whether he’ll fire the staff aide or deny the aide access to his social media accounts, though he did note that the aide did not act maliciously.

Because it is.

He'd fire the aide responsible if it was an aide responsible.

He did it. He can't fire an aide for something try didn't do.

Given that Ted Cruz is the most hated person among his senate colleagues, is there any way folks like Lindsey Graham or moderate GOP senators like Flake could endorse and fundraise for O'Rourke? I mean these guys have to actually have at least one weekly sit down lunch with Cruz so after a few years they'd probably prefer him gone. Besides I heard O'Rourke is a pretty friendly and nice guy. Who wouldn't want to work with him instead of Ted Cruz?

I know if I was a Democratic senator and I hated my own Party colleague I'd immediately start fundraising for his nice guy easygoing opponent even if they were a Republican.

So if you were in the Senate and hated Elizabeth Warren, you'd endorse Richard Tisei, Shiva Ayyadurai, or Gabriel Gomez over Warren?

A left wing media outlet fan girling  over a left wing candidate is not news

People post long profile pieces on Atlas all the time.

I'm not so daft to think people here aren't aware of what MJ is, but it was a long article that I thought at least one or two people here might appreciate, and we have a long way to go til the midterms, so if I come across various pieces like that, I will continue to post them.

I admittedly quite enjoy that of reading profile pieces usually. They are quite fascinating and interesting to learn much more about the person in question.

Who says the only thing worth posting on a congressional politics forum is "news?" You may not like Beto or MJ, but telling the story of a Senate candidate, his background, his views, the challenges he'll have to face if he's to have any chance of winning over voters in Texas - that's all very relevant to understanding the dynamics of a race. Sure, it's written with a bias toward him, but that's what a profile should be. Focusing on who he is and how he presents himself. That's what he'll be doing as he's on the campaign trail in Texas. It's stuff worth knowing if you want to analyze him as a candidate and not just look at this race through the narrow view of "It's Texas LOL." Personally, I thought it was an interesting read, and actually I thought they were pretty good about acknowledging how serious the challenges are for Democrats in Texas and for Beto O'Rourke in particular. Just because those challenges exist doesn't mean that he doesn't also have positive attributes that might help him win over voters.

If I have to decide between reading an article like that or reading a deluge of posts that say "SAFE R!" "JUNK POLL!" "THIS RACE IS UNWILLABLE" "DREAM ON DEMOCRATS", I'll take the profile article any day. Those comments might be accurate, but they don't tell me anything that I couldn't have figured out myself while nomming cinnamon toast and pondering the nature of Texas elections. At least I actually learned a few things from the article.

It's a very tough road for Beto. Cruz may be unliked, but the Cruz machine in Texas is very very strong and Cruz has done a good job keeping himself out of trouble lately. Good luck to Beto because he'll need it.

A Tea Party candidate whose last name is Bible... That's a little too on the nose.

Could Carl Bible be a possible spoiler and siphon votes from Ted Cruz?

What has uber Tea Party bomb-thrower Ted Cruz done to deserve a challenge from his right (other than daring to run against Fuhrer Trump)?

Could Carl Bible be running specifically to hand the race to O'Rourke?

That's all he's done. In today's Republican party, speaking out against Trump is cause for execution.

Also, I doubt Bible is running specifically to spoil Cruz. Most likely it's just a case of the usual Tea Partier inclination, by which measure they're very similar to BernieBros: make a stand and run as an independent no matter what the consequences may be.

Just reading this guy's website. He's truly something else. Something about the way he writes comes across as very "time-cubey".

At this point, Ted Cruz has Mark Warner 2014 written all over him.

Also possible, but Allen saw a competitive-ish race coming and the outcome hinged heavily on a single campaign gaffe.  I don't see Cruz making a mistake that severe.

I think this forum underestimates Cruz' capacity to be a walking closet full of skeletons.
