A few points of importance from here: http://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/17/obamacare-senate-republicans-repeal-242821

- McConnell will only bring up Graham-Cassidy if there are 50+ definite votes for the legislation. This means there will be no telling people "Just vote for the motion to begin debate and you can vote no on final passage later.", no late night whipping on CSPAN2, and no uncertainty during the process. If it's certain McConnell has 50+ votes, he'll bring it up, otherwise, it won't receive a second of discussion in the full senate.

- No vote this week due to the CBO needing more time to score it and the senate's limited schedule. If a vote happens, it will be during the week of September 25-30.

- If it passes the senate, the house must pass it as is or not at all, due to the extremely limited timetable.

So, this is a dead of night thing?

Basically, it's McConnell saying "get the votes on your own, I'm not helping aside from letting the vote occur if 50 senators want it."

So apparently Rand Paul and Susan Collins are already no votes? If true, I dont see Murkowski supporting this either.

Collins has said she's undecided, but it's unlikely she'd ultimately vote to defund Planned Parenthood.

Arizona Gov. Ducey comes out in support of Graham-Cassidy: https://twitter.com/dougducey/status/909833548986687489.

McCain has indicated he'd base his vote on whether Ducey supported it.

So McCain is probably a yes while Paul is definitely a No and Collins is very likely a No. Murkowski says she's undecided, but it'd be hard to see her vote Yes for this after everything that's happened. Capito is also publicly undecided. This all could be irrelevant depending on what the parliamentarian strikes down as requiring 60 votes.

Planned Parenthood (a big factor for Collins & Murkowski) says "This bill is the worst Obamacare repeal bill yet."  https://twitter.com/jbendery/status/909841995111305217

Capito sounds like she's leaning yes. Moran is also publicly undecided.

CBO plans to have a preliminary assessment by early next week.

So, Senators (and potentially Representatives) would be voting partially blind on what the bill does.

I doubt the CBO will be particularly flattering to Graham-Cassidy.

The GOP is lower than dog shiit. Oh well...if anything, the destruction of ACA will hopefully lead to a single payer system

Or to be more precise, the destabilization of the insurance industry.

Yeah, I am sure this will cheer up those who will lose their insurance if the ACA is repealed.

You know before Medicare was passed....the US Government had means tested government insurance for the elderly that states could opt-into. It was inefficient and not that great. If anything, the destruction of the insurance market and the unfortunate suffering of tens of millions Americans with Insurance and Medicaid will hopefully galvanize action into getting a universal system. F**k the Republican Party

Talk about being naive...

What makes the ACA repeal attempts even more frustrating is the fact the ACA's "problems" aren't that hard to fix.

But sadly the government is controlled by a bunch of unserious zealots. Even if Graham-Cassidy flops ( and I think it will), the GOP will continue to do this **** until Democrats (aka the daddy party) gets back into power.

Rand Paul definitely seems like a hard no this time, barring a major change to the bill. Without considering what McCain will do, this bill can only pass if Murkowski (or possibly Collins but that is very unlikely) flips to Yes. Could she really do that, after voting against MTP, full repeal, BCRA, and skinny repeal? As long as she stays undecided, this bill is still alive.

Just wait until Menendez gets hauled off and then jam it with 49 votes.

Mutatis mutandis, it would still be 50-49

So does McConnell seriously plan on passing this in 12 days, or is he just doing this to show the base he tried the best he could to repeal Obamacare?

It's a horrible bill that will just hurt many people in their own base. Is the symbolic "victory" worth it?

I saw Rand Paul hammering the new plan on Fox today. I'm assuming at least Collins and Murkowski are still not on board too. That's not a majority.

Lindsey Graham: Obamacare overhaul is 'Bernie Sanders' worst nightmare'

"This is Bernie Sanders' worst nightmare," Graham said in an interview on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM, speaking about his healthcare proposal. "It's either this or we're going to Obamacare and Berniecare. Now, Berniecare is full-blown single-payer socialism. It is his dream and that's where Democrats are going."

50%. It'll be up to Murkowski in the end. She LOVES planned parenthood, but does she really want to be known to republicans as the Senator who sabotaged ObamaCare repeal until at least fiscal 2019? It's a difficult question to answer.

I don't think she gives ****.

Murkowski has already proven she doesn't need the GOP to win elections. If she vote yes it will be because she supports the bill, not because she is afraid of the GOP base.
