-Illinois Senator Michelle Obama endorses Kamala Harris during a rally in Des Moines, Iowa, taking on the occasion to remind Iowa Democrats that since 2000 the winner of the Iowa Democratic caucus has gone on to win the nomination (her husband Barack Obama being one of the biggest examples in 2008 as his win in the 2008 Iowa Democratic caucus propelled him to the Demoratic nomination after all pundits originally predicted an easy win for Hillary Clinton) and calling on Iowa Democrats to make history again.

-The U.S. Treasury's Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced sanctions against two ISIS financial facilitators based in Syria and Turkey for allegedly providing financial and logistical support to ISIS in order to isolate ISIS from the international financial system and eliminate revenue sources. President Rubio saluted that move which, as he declared, will deprive ISIS of any means of recruitment or financial provision aimed at any potential war effort and will lead America and its allies to final victory against radical Islamic terrorism.

-The states of Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi hold their gubernatorial elections. The Republicans orchestrated a clean sweep in these races in those red states : in Mississippi, incumbent Governor Tate Reeves easily won re-election with 59 % of the vote over his Democratic challenger State Representative Jay Hughes's 41 %. In Kentucky, Attorney General Daniel Cameron, the Republican gubernatorial nominee, defeats former Attorney General Andy Beshear, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, with 52 % of the vote over Beshear's 46 %, thus becoming Kentucky's first African-American Governor. In Louisiana, Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser vanquished former New Orleans Mayor & Lt. Govenor Mitch Landrieu with 54 % of the vote over Landrieu's 46 %, succeeding John Bel Edwards who is currently running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

-The Republican presidential primary candidates meet each other at the Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina for their 5th Republican primary debate sponsored by the South Carolina Republican Party and moderated by ABC NEWS World News Anchor David Muir, Senior Congressional Correspondent Mary Bruce and ABC's Weekend News Anchor Tom Llamas. When asked about the concerns related to recent job losses in the last month, the candidates answered that raising taxes, as the Democrats suggested, will only make things worse, praising the Rubio Administration's tax cuts policies that provided the economic boom of the last 7 years and declared that the Congress' likely decision to approve the proposed US-Africa Free Trade Agreement will help the economy to continue to grow thanks to an increase of exports and stronger American competitiveness in the world economy. The Republican contenders also saluted the progress made in space exploration at the approach of the launch of Artemis 2. When asked about how to ensure the success of the establishment of Lunar Gateway, a manned lunar base, as a springboard to a manned mission to Mars and of America's goal to launch a manned operation to Mars by 2030, Vice-President Haley answered that America needs to prevent wasteful earmarks from diverting precious resources from critical scientific and aeronautics research and encourage public-private partnerships to fund that project, which is something the Rubio Administration is doing, thus putting America in the right direction in terms of space exploration.

-This is the great day featuring the launch of Exploration Mission-2 from the Kennedy Space Station for a great and historical lunar mission. President Rubio gives a speech ahead of the launch, calling this a great and historic day marking America's return to the Moon and will also the first time ever in history that women will be landing on the Moon (referring to Tracy Caldwell Dyson and Megan K. McArthur). Reminding the audience that this day is also the 60th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's death, he takes on the occasion to honor Kennedy's leggacy and leadership of standing up to the Soviet Union, including in the Space Race in which context America has chosen to go to the Moon by the end of the 1960s. He declared that this dream, this goal is now taking new heights as not only America is going back to the Moon but also because this mission will clear the way to the establishment of Lunar Gateway (a crewed lunar base scheduled to be put in place by 2028) as a springboard to future space missions « because we choose to go to Mars by 2030. » A few hours later, the SLS (Space-Launch System) takes the ORION CSM-003 Capsule into space before the Atlas V Rocket takes ALTAIR into space and then is docked to the ORION Service Module in Low Earth Orbit, making the launch a success and starting America's process of reclaiming its status as the leader in space exploration.

-During a rally in Des Moines, Iowa, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announces that she endorses Vice-President Nikki Haley for the Republican presidential nomination. Reynolds cites Des Moines' status as one of the top 10 best places in America to do business (including a ranking at first place by the Forbes Magazine in 2010 and 2013), energy costs there being 22 % below the national average, the cost of living in Des Moines being 10 % below the national average and business costs here being 18 % below the national average. The Iowa Governor takes on the occasion to tout Haley's business experience (Haley for her mother's clothing business in her early career, was named to the board of directors of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce and of the Lexington County Chamber of Commerce before becoming treasurer of the National Association of Women Business Owners), praising her economic policies during Haley's time as Governor (that attracted new companies in the Palmetto State by lowering the cost of doing business there, reducing corporate income tax rate to 5 %, by abolishing state property tax, local income tax, inventory tax, sales tax on manufacturing equipment, wholesale tax and unitary tax on worldwide profits and by having industrial power or materials for finished products) giving her credit for helping President Rubio to fix the mess caused by the big govermnment, tax-hike job-killing policies of the previous administration and to provide the economic prosperity of the last 7 years through the advocacy of free enterprise, small government, lower taxes, free trade and energy independence. Reynolds described the Vice-President as the best candidate to pursue the economic progress of the last 7 years and calls on the people of Iowa to support Vice-President Haley to make sure that opportunity and the American Dream can reach every American across the country.

-Following the recognition of the Chukchi Plateau as part of the U.S. exclusive economic zone in the Arctic and the opening of this plateau to oil drilling by the Rubio Administration through the approval of the American Energy Act last July as well as through its efforts to abolish regulations on energy production and open up public lands, oil companies like Shell restarted oil exploration in the region and even started expanding their activities through the exploitation of natural gas and manganese there.

They only hate it because it has a clear Republican bias, which 95% of Atlas has...in favor of the Democrats, so..., yeah. It's sad but not unexpected.

CNN
„STATE OF THE UNION“ with Jake Tapper
„Sunday 5th of November 2023“
NEW CNN/ORC/TIME POLLS RELEASE...
GOP RACE: HALEY LEADS NATIONALLY AND IN SOUTH CAROLINA...SASSE LEADS IN IOWA...SUNUNU LEADS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE
DEM RACE: HARRIS LEADS NATIONALLY, IN IOWA & SOUTH CAROLINA...KENNEDY LEADS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Jake Tapper, Chief Anchor „The Lead“ & „State of the Union“

It's 9am in Washington, 6am in Los Angeles, 2pm in London and 3pm in Berlin. From whereever you watching from thanks for joining CNN. I'm Jake Tapper and you are the „STATE OF THE UNION INTRO“

CNN PLAYS THE STATE OF THE UNION INTRO

Over the past week CNN in conjunction with Opinion Research Corporation have conducted extensive Polling in the „Race for the White House“ BOTH, Nationally and in the critical early States of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to gauge if there is any movement amongst the Republican & Democratic Presidential Hopefuls. We also want to remind our Viewers that we are now officially one year away from the 2024 Presidential Election. Alongside me here in the Studio to discuss the „State of the Race“ is our Chief Political Analyst Dana Bash and our Senior Political Analyst & Special Correspondent Cecilia Vega. Before we discuss I'll toss it to our own John King, Senior Election Analyst & Anchor of „INSIDE POLITICS“ for a Rundown on the Polls. John, what do you see in the new Numbers?

John King, Senior Election Analyst & Anchor „Inside Politics“

Well Jake, while the National Race in BOTH, for the Democratic Nomination and for the Republican Nomination remained largely static at least when it comes both Frontrunners we're definitly seeing some shifts in the three early Voting States of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. First, I'll look into some Favorable/Unfavorable Numbers and then I'll dig into the National Race and the Race in these Early States.

As you may know several Individuals running for the Presidency in 2024. Do you have a Favorable/Unfavorable View of the following Candidates [NAMES ROTATED]?

Vice-President Nikki Haley 61/32

Governor Chris Kennedy 58/40
Senator Bob Casey 57/38
Governor John Bel Edwards 55/41
Entrepreneur Andrew M. Yang 53/44
Former Governor Terry McAuliffe 47/49

If your Primary or Caucus for the Republican Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

Vice President Nikki Haley 29 % (30 %)
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu 18 % (16 %)
Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse 16 % (13 %)
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker 14 % (13 %)
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton 13 % (17 %)
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan 3 % (5 %)
Unsure 7 %

If your Primary or Caucus for the Democratic Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

California Senator Kamala Harris 27 % (29 %)
Illinois Governor Chris Kennedy 20 % (22 %)
Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey 17 % (13 %)
Lousiana Governor John Bel Edwards 14 % (15 %)
Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe 11 % (15 %)
Entrepreneur Andrew Yang 2 % (1 %)
Unsure 9 %

IOWA
If the Iowa Caucuses for the Republican Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse 27 % (26 %)
Vice President Nikki Haley 24 % (26 %)
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton 19 % (21 %)
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu 10 % (11 %)
Former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker 7 % (8 %)
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan 5 % (4 %)
Unsure 8 %

If the Iowa Caucuses for the Democratic Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

California Senator Kamala Harris 29 % (24 %)
Illinois Governor Chris Kennedy 24 % (26 %)
Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey 18 % (15 %)
Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards 13 % (10 %)
Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe 11 % (17 %)
Entrepreneur Andrew Yang 1 % (3 %)
Unsure 4 %

NEW HAMPSHIRE
If the New Hampshire Primary for the Republican Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu 27 % (29 %)
Former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker 20 % (22 %)
Vice President Nikki Haley 17 % (15 %)
Former Maryland Larry Hogan 12 % (13 %)
Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse 7 % (8 %)
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton 7 % (9 %)
Unsure 10 %

If the New Hampshire Primary for the Democratic Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

Illinois Governor Chris Kennedy 27 % (23 %)
California Senator Kamala Harris 22 % (25 %)
Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey 16 % (14 %)
Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards 13 % (10 %)
Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe 12 % (18 %)
Entrepreneur Andrew Yang 2 % (3 %)
Unsure 8 %

SOUTH CAROLINA
If the South Carolina Primary for the Republican Nomination would be held today whom would you support [NAMES ROTATED]?

Vice President Nikki Haley 43 % (41 %)
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton 18 % (20 %)
Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse 17 % (19 %)
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu 7 % (6 %)
Former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker 5 % (5 %)

California Senator Kamala Harris 38 % (40 %)
Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards 18 % (15 %)
Illinois Governor Chris Kennedy 15 % (13 %)
Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey 14 % (10 %)
Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe 12 % (17 %)
Entrepreneur Andrew Yang 1 % (1 %)
Unsure 2 %

As you can see Jake Vice President Nikki Haley remains the Frontrunner for the Republican Presidential Nomination on a National Level and so does California Senator Kamala Harris for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. We do see some changes in the Early Primary/Caucus States. In IOWA on the Republican Side we have a new Leader with Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse. It seems that his Economic Message particularly among the Iowa Farmer Community is resonating. How long that will hold I don't know! On the Democratic Side Senator Harris has taken the lead from Governor Kennedy in that State. That's probably because of the Endorsement from Michelle Obama at the beginning of this week when our Polls where in the Field. Haley & Harris also maintain large leads in SOUTH CAROLINA and have the best Favorable/Unfavorable Numbers Nationally. In NEW HAMPSHIRE Governor Chris Sununu is maintaining his lead over the neighboring Governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker on the GOP Side of things while on the Democratic Side Governor Kennedy has taken a small lead over Senator Harris.
The two big losers in this Round of Polling by CNN/ORC are definitly Senator Tom Cotton and former Virginia Governor McAuliffe. Their Numbers have fallen accross the board nationally and also in these early States suggesting that their attacks on the two Frontrunners may have massivly backfired. Back to you Jake!

Jake Tapper, Chief Anchor „The Lead“ & „State of the Union“

Thanks You John! These are some fascinating Numbers particularly in these critical early Primary States for both Parties. Let's start with Republicans first. With me to discuss is our Chief Political Analyst Dana Bash. Dana, what do you make of these because there are quite some turns in it.

Dana Bash, Chief Political Analyst

These Numbers are interesting indeed, Jake! We could have 3 different Winners in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. I think Senator Sasse leading the Vice President in Iowa, although it's a very small lead may also be due him coming from the neighboring State of Nebraska. Particulaly Western Iowa is very conservative. I'm a little bit shocked about Senator Cottons Standing in the Polls. He's running 3rd in Iowa, 6th in New Hampshire and is barely ahead of Sasse in South Carolina. He needs to get these Numbers up particularly in the South where a lot of Delegates will up for grabs on Super Tuesday. Meanwhile I think the 3 moderate Governors Sununu, Baker and Hogan have to decide who is going to continue after New Hampshire because if all 3 are remaining in the Race they will have no chance of success. I think Governor Chris Sununu is best positioned to take the moderate lane, not so much because he's the Governor of New Hampshire and is expected to win there but more because he was the Chairman of the Republican Governors Association during the last Election Cycle and therefore has more Name Recognition compared to the other two. Pennsylvania Governor Charlie Dent has already endorsed him and I expect more moderate Governors especially in the northeast will follow that lead. Aides from the Campaign of Vice President Haley telling me that the Vice President will be endorsed by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds so Senator Sasse's lead in Iowa might not hold for long.

Jake Tapper, Chief Anchor „The Lead“ & „State of the Union“

Thanks Dana! Let's now look at the Democratic Race. With me is our Senior Political Analyst & Special Correspondent Cecilia Vega. Cecilia, there seems to be a momentum shift in Senator Harris favor in the last few weeks. What do you make of it?

Cecilia Vega, CNN Senior Political Analyst & Special Correspondent

You are probably right, Jake! That Endorsement from Senator Michelle Obama earlier this week in Des Moines was huge for the Harris Campaign but I don't it's only reason the California Senator is now leading in Iowa. Her Debates & Statements have been very polished too. Also remember, she said to me during that Interview in the Summer that she would also go to the more rual areas in those States to turn out Voters and that's what I think has happened as well. Needless to say that this could get very problematic for the Kennedy Campaign. Yes, he is leading in New Hamshire but only by 5 Percentage Points. If Senator Harris wins in Iowa and gets a bounce out of it we could be dead even in that State very quick. Governor Edwards & McAuliffe seem to be non-factors in both, Iowa & New Hampshire. Being from the South Edwards has gained a little bit of traction in South Carolina where he is now in 2nd Place. I think Senator Caseys rise among Democrats has more to do that he's well liked about Democrat-leaning Independent Voters. Former Virginia Governor McAuliffe has generally taken a nosedive because of his attacks on Senator Harris declaring that she helped the Rubio Administration more than her Party which I found completely over the top and ridiculous.

Thank You both all for your Analysis & Insights. Be sure to stay with CNN throughout the weekend. „FAREED ZAKARIA GPS“ starts right now.

-Artemis 2 finally reaches the Moon and lands on it. Later that day, Jeffrey N. Williams stepped on the Moon. A few minutes later, Tracy Caldwell Dyson joined Williams on the surface, becoming the first woman to walk on the Moon. She takes on the occasion to say what will likely be remembered among historical quotes for generations to come : « To all women who are watching this, that day shows that not only we can do it, but we did it! » (in reference to the famous « We Can Do It! » poster). She is then followed by Megan K. McArthur who becomes the second woman to walk on the Moon. The crew planted an American flag on the lunar surface. President Rubio addressed the Artemis 2 crew on the phone from the Oval Office and expressed how proud he and the nation are of the accomplishment made today by the astronauts, calling this a great and historic day marking a new frontier for mankind as this mission cleared the way for space missions further in the Solar System (notably through the establishment of a crewed lunar base that will serve as a springboard for missions to planets or moons like Mars, Europa, Titan, etc.). The President also expresses the whole world’s prayers that the astronauts will return safely to the Earth.

-The candidates for the Republican presidential nomination hold their 6th primary debate at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The debate is hosted by Fox News’ Chris Wallace, Brett Baier and Martha McCallum. When asked about their plan to complete the fight against ISIS, Haley, Cotton, Baker and Sasse answered that what needs to be done to accomplish final victory against that jihadist organization is to stay on offense against terrorism, including military force, strong coalitions, getting the Syrian Army prepared to handle their country’s security through training and sanctioning ISIS’ financial facilitators to deprive the terrorist organization of sources to fund its recruitment efforts and buy weapons, which is what the President is doing and is putting America and its allies on the right track to win the War on Terror. Cotton touts his military service, declaring he has the knowledge that America’s status as the number one military power is the key to global peace and stability. All the candidates saluted America’s recent accomplishment to send humans, including women, to the Moon.

During a press conference, President Rubio described that report as an indication of the progress in America and its allies’ efforts to restore freedom, stability and security in the Middle East, to defeat ISIS and states that thanks to the efforts of the U.S. troops in Syria to train the Syrian troops, the Syrian Armed Forces will take full responsibility for Syria’s security and we’ll make sure that ISIS will be defeated.

-The Republican candidates for President meet each other at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada for the 7th Republican primary debate. It is hosted by CNN and Telemundo. When asked about how they respond to the Democratic presidential hopefuls’ call for stricter gun control, the Republican candidates answered that such laws would be ineffective. Tom Cotton argued that even with stricter gun control laws, a criminal can still commit murders with knives, axes, swords, grenades, trucks, etc. « So will the Democrats then suggest background checks on all these weapons? » he wondered before he stated that the right solution to prevent mass shootings is to allow the Attorney General to block the transfer of firearms to suspected criminals or terrorists, which is what the Rubio Administration has done. When Dana Bash asked the candidates when, according to them, is the right time to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria in the context the Coalition’s imminent victory against ISIS, they answered that it is not until America and its allies accomplish unconditional victory against ISIS and until the completion of the training of the Syrian troops to make it certain they will be fully prepared to handle their country’s security in the long term so the allied troops can come home with honor and dignity.

At this moment I think Nikki Haley will be elected but of course there is still a long way till the election and given the GOP field she has to still run at least a decent campaign to get the nomination and then a decent campaign to win the WH.

If she doesnt its possible she could fail to win the nomination, and even if she does she could lose in November in a similar fashion to Gore losing in 2000. Hopefully that doesnt happen though and Haley gets elected

Marco Rubio's Presidency
February 2024, Part 1

February 1, 2024

Own creation
-The Democratic presidential candidates hold their 8th primary debate in Johnston, Iowa, the last before the Iowa caucuses. It is hosted by the Des Moines Register and by Iowa Public Television. The debate is notably marked by an exchange between Bob Casey Jr. and Andrew Yang who again accused the former of having changed his position on climate change due to his opposition to banning fracking. Senator Casey responded by declaring that his job as a Senator is to stand up and fight for the interests and needs of his constituents and noted that over 60 % of Pennsylvanians oppose banning fracking as it represents a major pillar of Pennsylvania’s economy. « But that doesn’t mean that I’m against regulations on fracking in order for us to encourage the development of renewable energies in the process of improving our ecological footprint and give us a clean environment. » When asked about how to fulfill her plan to end the AIDS epidemic within a generation, Kamala Harris answered that it will be done by making medications such as PrEP affordable and by covering it by insurance.

-The 2024 Republican presidential candidates hold their 8th primary debate in Johnston, Iowa. That event is hosted by the Des Moines Register and by Iowa Public Television. When asked about the Taiwan issue, the candidates praised the Rubio Administration’s action to broker the recent arms deal providing two Columbia-class submarines, HELIOS laser weapons for the Taiwanese Navy and 5 Northrop Grumman B-21 Raiders to Taiwan, stating that this move will definitely counter China’s aggression in the Pacific and derail any attempt by Beijing to invade Taiwan thanks to an effective and powerful defense of the island through arsenal from the world’s top military power. On education, Ben Sasse reiterates the importance of higher education reform, reminding the audience that when he was appointed president of Midland University, Midland was in dire straits and contemplating bankruptcy and Sasse turned out to be a prodigious crisis manager as Midland's enrollment has gone from 590 students to 1,100. On health care, Tom Cotton touted his effort to work with the Rubio Administration to accelerate the Food and Drug Administration’s review of generic drug applications, especially where competition is limited and drug prices are high as speeding up the approval process will introduce more competition and help lower the cost of medications for seniors.

February 3, 2024
-A new jobs report indicates that thanks to high consumption during the Holidays as well as to the effects of the ratification of the ratification of the US-Africa Free Trade Agreement and the opening of the Chukchi Plateau to offshore oil drilling, the economy starts to grow again with the creation of 172 000 new jobs in the last month. President Rubio touted this jobs report as another reason to be optimistic about the future and an indication that America is on the right track to full employment and prosperity for all.

-The Republican and Democratic candidates, at the exception of Charlie Baker, Chris Sununu and Andrew Yang who are focusing more on New Hampshire, spent the entire day campaigning all across Iowa ahead of tomorrow’s caucuses. When a farmer grilled Tom Cotton during a town hall meeting about the Arkansas Senator’s vote against a 2014 farm bill, Cotton answered that former President Obama « hijacked that bill and turned into a food stamp bill, with billions more in spending and therefore made farmers and ranchers pay more for it ». Vice-President Haley campaigns around the Des Moines area touting the benefits of the Rubio Administration’s tax cut, free trade and energy policies on farmers and ranchers across the country, including in Iowa due to the abolition of the death tax, to energy independence and stronger competitiveness of American farm and agricultural businesses in the world economy through stronger access to American dairy and agricultural products for international consumers. Ben Sasse focuses his efforts mostly in the Sioux Ciy, Ames and Des Moines areas where he notably held rallies aimed at appealing Iowa’s evangelical pro-life voters, citing his introduction the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to protect unborn children to what the Nebraska Senator described as infanticide. Kamala Harris campaigns in the Des Moines area as well as in Eastern Iowa record of bipartisanship in the Senate, citing her co-sponsorship of the Opportunity Act of 2018 and her pledge not to raise taxes for people earning less than $200,000 a year. In an effort to appeal among Iowa’s agricultural community, Governor Chris Kennedy touts his experience of starting the non-profit Top Box Foods that was created as a way to get discounted groceries to families who live in areas that either lack grocery stores or have an abundance of fast food in addition of purchasing food, boxing it in various combinations and delivering it monthly to churches and organizations in mostly low-income neighborhoods.

Anderson Cooper, Host „AC 360“

Thank You Anderson! Welcome to Des Moines, Iowa. Accompanying me tonight and throughout our Iowa Coverage here from Des Moines Iowa will Erin Burnett, „Host of CNN's OUTFRONT“. Welcome Erin!

Erin Burnett, Host CNN „OUTFRONT“ reporting from Des Moines, Iowa

Thank You Jake! I'm very excited to be here with you here in Des Moines. This is my 1st Time being actually in Iowa in the lead up to the Caucuses & Caucus Night so thanks for inviting me. The last two Days we had Primary Debates on both Sides and I thought both Frontrunners gave really polished Debate Performances. What do you think?

Jake Tapper, Host CNN „State of the Union“ reporting from Des Moines, Iowa

I would agree with you on that. I think the Republican Race here in Iowa will be a tight 3-way Race while Senator Harris does seem to have a lead in the Democratic Race. As you well know it will all come down to Turnout. That's usually how Caucuses are decided and it's even more important compared to a Primary. That's it from us here in Des Moines. Back to you Anderson!

Anderson Cooper, Host „AC 360“

Thank You Jake for your Report! Let's throw it straight to our Political Director David Chalian for the Release of our brand new Poll out of Iowa. David, to you!

David Chalian, CNN Political Director

Thank You Anderson! Let's look at the Republican Race in Iowa first. Vice President Haley enjoys a small lead heading into the Iowa Caucuses on Monday but this Race is still very much a 3-way Race. Today Haley gets 26 % of the voting intentions followed by Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse at 23 % and Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton at 21 %. New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu gets for the 1st Time Double Digit Support in the Hawkeye State with 10 % followed by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker at 8 % and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan 6 %. 6 % still remain undecided. Iowa is a very conservative State and that is reflected in these Numbers as the three moderate Governors running far behind. Haley & Sasse also have the highest Favorable Numbers in the Republican Field in Iowa. Sasse is dominating Western Iowa while Haley leads around Des Moines and in the eastern, more moderate part of the State. Cotton is ahead south and north of Des Moines. It will likely come down to Turnout like Jake Tapper reported out of Des Moines.
Let's now look at the Democratic Race in the Hawkeye State. Senator Harris lead is largely static from our Poll in December. Today she gets 28 % of the voting intentions. That's a slight drop of 2 %, still nearing 30 % is good for her. In 2nd Place we have Illinois Governor Chris Kennedy at 22 % but he is challenged (And that is undoubtedly the story in the last few months) by Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey who, for the first time in any of our Iowa Polls, reaches the 20 % Mark. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards gets 14 %, former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe gets 9 % and Entrepreneur Andrew Yang at 2 %. 5 % remain Undecided. The other Story over the last few months is the continuous decline of the former Virginia Governor. His attacks on Senator Harris backfired badly here in Iowa. Harris, Kennedy and Casey enjoy high Favorables in Iowa which is contributing to their high Polling. Senator Harris Support throughout the State though seems more broad even in eastern Iowa where many pundits believed Governor Kennedy having an edge because of the closeness to his Home State of Illinois. Harris' lead seems to be in line with what former President Barack Obama, then Candidate Obama had over Hillary Clinton in 2008. As you well know Illinois Senator Michelle Obama endorsed Senator Harris last year. Back to you Anderson!

Anderson Cooper, Host „AC 360“

Thank You David! Fascinating new Poll Numbers indeed. Let's throw it to our Chief Political Analyst Dana Bash and our Senior Political Analyst & Special Correspondent Cecilia Vega who have a star-stuttled Panel over there!

Dana Bash, CNN Chief Political Analyst

Thank You Anderson. Joining my Collegue Cecilia Vega and myself will be former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum who previously won the Iowa Caucuses in 2012, SE Cupp, former Obama Senior Advisor David Axelrod and the President & CEO of Voter Latino Maria Cardona. First to former Senator Santorum: What do you make of these new Poll Numbers on the Republican Race in Iowa?

Rick Santorum, former Pennsylvania Senator & CNN Contributor

Well Dana, we always knew Iowa would be close. It often is in Republican Presidential Primary Contests. I won Iowa by a razor-thin margin of just 34 votes. I still think Vice President Haley is in good Postion having a lead, even if it's only a small one, heading into Monday. I also think should she win in Iowa she will be the Republican nominee as she will likely win in her Home State of South Carolina later this month. As we saw in modern history, every presidential candidate who won 2 of the 3 early primary contests (IA, NH and SC) has gone on to win the nomination : in 1980 Ronald Reagan won New Hampshire and South Carolina and won the nomination, the same for George H. W. Bush in 1988, in 1996 Bob Dole won IA and SC and the nomination, the same for George W. Bush in 2000, John McCain won NH and SC in 2008 and became the nominee and in 2016 Marco Rubio won IA and SC and clinched the Republican presidential nomination. Senator Sasse doesn't seem to have the staying Power beyond Iowa and Senator Cotton is running a mediocre Campaign in my view. It could very well be a two-Person Race between the Vice President and Governor Sununu heading into Super Tuesday.

SE Cupp, Host „SE Cupp Unfiltered“

I would agree with what Rick just said with one caveat. I think it will be more of a contest between Vice President Haley and Senator Sasse on Monday. Senator Sasse will overperform in Western Iowa as he has the Endorsements of Senator Pat Grassley and Representative Randy Feenstra who both hail from the 4th District, which is the most conservative part in the State plus he is from neighboring Nebraska.

Cecila Vega, CNN Senior Political Analyst & Special Correspondent

Let's turn to Democratic Race! I have to ask the obvious Question to David Axelrod. Are you surprised by the size of the lead Senator Harris has in Iowa? David Chalian pointed out that it looks similar to what then Candidate and now former President Obama had in 2008!

David Axelrod, CNN Political Analyst & former Obama Senior Advisor

Yes and No Cecilia! I think the Endorsement of the former First Lady and now Senator Michelle Obama took a lot of air out of the Kennedy Campaign when she endorsed Senator Harris. Also, I never really believed that Iowa would be the best early State for the Kennedy Campaign, it more likely will be New Hampshire. Nonetheless Senator Harris has run a good Campaign in Iowa. Remember, she announced she would visit all of Iowas 99 Counties last Summer and that seems to be paying off. It could be a quick Nomination if she would win Iowa & New Hampshire but we're not there yet. She is hugely favoured in Nevada and South Carolina though. I am impressed with Senator Caseys showing in Iowa. He wasn't supposed to be a Major Player there but he gets obviously a good chunck of the Independent Voters in the Hawkeye State.

Maria Cardona, CNN Political Commentator & President of Voter Latino

I think Senator Harris will be the Democratic Presidential Nominee if she would win Iowa & New Hampshire but as David Axelrod mentioned we are very far away from that. It's interesting to note though that this year Democrats did not have a Progressive Candidate like Bernie Sanders in 2020 which made Senator Harris pathway much easier consolating support amongst the Democratic Establishment much easier. They clearly do not want another divisive Democratic Primary like 2016 and 2020. More importantly the Harris Campaign has Plan A, B, C depending how the first four Contests shake out. They are prepared for the long haul if they have to do that. Many believe she is the best Candidate in November particularly because of her bipartisan credentials over the last seven year.

Dana Bash, CNN Chief Political Analyst

Thank You all for your Analysis & Insights. With that I'll toss it back to Anderson Cooper. Anderson!

Anderson Cooper, Host „AC 360“

Thank You Dana! This ends the 1st Hour of AC360. We will now go into a Commercial Break. When we come back we will visit the Candidates in Iowa!

If Haley can win IA,  I think it would basically would mean Haley would run away with the nomination as Iowa is easily the least favorable of the early 4 contests for her and if she wins that she likely wins the other 3 and probably sweeps Super Tuesday with that momentum.

But don’t forget that Sununu is favored in his home state of New Hampshire.

True though the tea party style wing of the party probably must win Iowa then if they want any chance at the nomination.

Hopefully though Haley wins Iowa and we get a Haley vs Sununu primary
