The John F. Kennedy Presidency (1961-1965)
January 20, 1961: Chief Justice Hugo Black swears is John F. Kennedy as President of the United States.
April 17, 1961: Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba began; it succeeds and the Cubans back down by April 24th. President Kennedy's approval ratings rise up to 75%.
May 25, 1961: President Kennedy announced his goal to put a man on the Moon before the end of the decade
October 14, 1962 - October 28, 1962: Cuban Missile Crisis is successful.
November 22, 1963: President Kennedy survives an assassination attempt; no one is injured. Police arrest 24-year-old Lee Harvey Oswald with conspiracy to assassinate the President. He's found guilty and is sentenced to life in prison, where he would die in 2001.

1964 Presidential Election
June 30, 1964: President Kennedy and Vice President Johnson are re-nominated for President and Vice President, respectively.
June 31, 1964: Former President Richard Nixon mounts a comeback campaign for a second term and wins the Republican Party's presidential nomination, defeating Governor James A. Rhodes, Congressman William E. Miller, Senator Margaret Chase Smith, former Vice President Thomas E. Dewey, Governor George Romney, Congressman John W. Byrnes, Senator Barry Goldwater, and Senator Everett Dirksen. Nixon selects Governor Rhodes as his running mate.
November 3, 1964: President Kennedy is re-elected, defeating President Nixon, 369 to 164.

Unless you missed something and the Kennedys won WWIII, I don't see how Dems keep the White House for 24 years.

I forgot to change the Cuban Missile Crisis, just updated it. The CMC succeeds and the Cubans back down from the threat of the US. JFK's approval rating rises up to 75%. He's hailed as one of the greatest Presidents, and continued to give speeches and support Democratic candidates in his post-presidency.

You know, with all this Democratic takeover, I wonder if a third party will eventually overshadow the Republicans in the future. (Possibly Perot in '92, '96?)
