So read this before you jump to conclusions:

If the elections are shut down and the United States is no longer a democracy in 2020,  what would the new purpose of this website become?

If America ever becomes a dictatorship, we'll still have elections.  They would be rigged of course but all the appearances of a Republic would be retained.

This is far-fetched. Even in the event of a war or a huge terrorist attack, I doubt elections would be canceled. Trump still has a lot of powerful opposition throughout the United States, and even the congressional Republicans wouldn't let him or his administration give the finger to the Supreme Court.

There is a lot of dysfunctional things in the US political system, but at least, a dictatorship is still almost unthinkable. You can thank checks and balances for that. If we had Trump in France, I would be way more worried. (He wouldn't have won the election, though, because we don't have an electoral college.)

But, if a coup d'État actually happens... Atlas could become a rallying point for the resistance?

If that article is correct and the executive branch is outright ignoring court orders, then umm... we don't have checks and balances.

It won't last long, because when the case will reach the Supreme Court, it will be politically explosive and highly mediatized. He can't ignore the Supreme Court. I mean, I hope he can't... I don't count on the congressional Republicans growing a spine in his first 100 days but still, he can't f*** around that much.

Andrew Jackson got away with it, and given Trump's lack of deference to what he sees as establishment rules and norms, I can easily see him doing the same.

If there ever were a coup, then it would be over gross misconduct of the President and the unwillingness of Congress to impeach him. If anything I would expect the coup leader to dissolve at least one House of Congress and schedule new elections. There could be a flurry  of electoral activity. The coup would have to conform with the American political system.

That assumes no Pinochet.

If there actually were a coup, I certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to announce my (anti-regime) political positions on the internet.

Good rebuttal to that article: https://tompepinsky.com/2017/01/30/weak-and-incompetent-leaders-act-like-strong-leaders/

Like many have already commented, whether Trump is acting out of strength or weakness, the result is the same.  Perhaps he's not competent enough to make a tyranny of our republic, but there are certain advisors around him who are.

What are we supposed to do?  How are we to react?

Atlas is so much more than presidential election maps.

Wherever BRTD asks a stranger their opinion of some Russian Christian metal band... Atlas lives on.
Whenever Kalwejt takes a picture of himself at his desk... Atlas lives on.
Whenever dudeabides kisses his life-size cutout of Jeb Bush goodnight... Atlas lives on.
Whenever TN Volunteer gets shouted at by an angry woman in New Hampshire... Atlas lives on.
Whenever Sprouts Farmers Market has to explain how a gay socialist can support Trump... Atlas lives on.
Whenever Virginia gives an in-depth explanation of a policy and gets a "looking good!" as a response... Atlas lives on.
Whenever Ice Spear watches reruns of MSNBC coverage from the primaries on YouTube... Atlas lives on.
Whenever Tender whispers "Blaxican" into the ear of an unsuspecting woman late at night... Atlas lives on.

No coup or civil war or Bannon shall ever bring us to our knees!

Lots of countries don't have elections so I'd say it would continue to be the same?

Not many countries eschew elections altogether, even though they are mostly left as empty parodies of the concept

They are already rigged. Millions voted illegally in 2016.*
