Anybody paying attention to this? Correa is term-limited and apparently was uninterested in the typical "just one more term" shenanigans leaders normally do. Although the economy has waned recently due to low oil prices (although it hasn't tanked, because Correa despite his inyuhface attitude isn't an economic simpleton like a certain other BOLIVERIAN HERO) and a corruption scandal involving Petroecuador has also depressed the government, the most likely winner is Correa's protégé, Lenin (lol) Moreno. He was Correa's VP in his first term, is identified with his activism for disabled people (being in a wheelchair himself) and has a nice and mild-mannered personality, especially compared with Correa. The other candidates are:

Guillermo Lasso, CREO - the centre-right (in a Latin American context) neoliberal who came in second last time
Cynthia Viteri, PSC - longtime congresswomen and candidate two elections ago
Paco Moncayo - liberal-left ex-mayor of Quito, supported by non-Correasque left

I won't embarrass myself talking too much as Sir John Johns will probably inform us in detail about what is occurring. Take a gander at the 2013 thread for a good overview on the history of Ecuador.
