I wasn't sure where else to put this, but Trump's official portrait is out now in case anyone was wondering.

Just saw it on Wikipedia. The portrait itsself is ugly. Particularly because he's not smiling.

This makes me somehow... repulsed. Everything in this picture screams aggression, meanness and stress, just like Trump's rallies. His orangeness doesn't help.

No more nice nice. He's a alpha male. We had too much beta males. It's probably time for sternness.
With one part of your... Statement I agree- you had too many males.

Why do the congressional leaders have to walk out twice?

Desperate times call for desperate measures. This is not a time for party and rah-rah.

Very small crowds. How does it compare with the Bush inaugurations?

They're definitely running behind here. Pence hasn't even been sworn in yet, right?

The only reaction I have in mind for this moment is, "let's just get it over with".

Same here, this feels like peeling off a band-aid.

That's kind of true.
Also, why is this whole thing so fanatically religious? I now wish more than before that atheist Jewish Bernie would've been elected. Sure, I dislike his foreign and trade policy, but the inaguration would've been sweet.

Not very favorably.  Bush drew a big crowd in 2001.  All the photos show a packed mall.

The last time the democrats seriously boycotted a Republican presidential inauguration was in April 1861, when about a third of the democrats of the 35th congress refused to show up.  Matter of fact, seven of the state legislatures had actually passed bills of secession from the federal government by inauguration day that year.  Ultimately that president made America great again, but about 600 thousand young American men would die either from bullets, or from injuries and starvation, as a result.  So this boycott may seem bad, but it has been much worse in the past.

Mike Pence probably had a heavy hand in organizing this thing.

People still have faith in this country. Not everyone believes that Big Government is God.

If 70 Republicans boycotted Obama's inauguration, they'd be called racists.

Lol, at least I can name some legitimate reasons why Democrats would choose to boycott Trump's inauguration. Republicans had no reason at all to boycott Obama's first inauguration.
