1992: Bill Clinton winning NH, ME, VT, MT, CO
1996: Bill Clinton winning AZ
2000: W Bush winning WV, TN
2008: Obama winning IN, NC, NE02
2016: Trump winning ME02, PA, MI, WI

In terms of margins, a few victories stand out: Obama winning PA by 10.3% in 2008 (first double digit victory in PA since Nixon 1972), CO by 9%, and Trump winning OH by 8.1% and IA by 9.4% in 2016 (strongest OH performance by any nominee since HW Bush 1988 and strongest GOP performance in IA since Nixon 1972).

There is Clinton winning California by nearly 30%, the best Democratic result in 80 years.

Obama winning Indiana. Most of the ones Arbitrage listed are only impressive without hindsight--West Virginia was clearly already a Republican state in 2000.

Let's not inflate Trump's ego by calling anything he did "impressive."

Now you're just being sour grapes. You don't have to like Trump to agree that him winning WI (a state that last went to the GOP in 1984) and MI and PA (last went to GOP in 1988) is an impressive political feat.

Disagree with some of your points. In 1992, ME/VT/NH were solid republican at the presidential level, and since then they have been pretty solid democratic (obviously VT moreso than the others). VT until that point had gone to a democrat just once, for LBJ in 1964. Clinton's 1992 victory was a re-alignment.

1996: TX was already solid republican by then. CO was also a fairly robust GOP state.
2000: Bush only won NH because of Nader.
