Not surprised at all by the comments here. God willing, Bolsonaro will have a speedy recovery and receive a sympathy boost because of this, helping him to win the election and crack down mercilessly on groups inspired by the same ideas as the perpetrator of the attack.

My girlfriend is Brazilian and was never-Jair in the first round. But PT has made life rather difficult for middle class Brazilians to make a good living, start a business, etc. Plus she told me that Venezuela is pushing a lot of Brazilians to support Jair. His primary showing in  high population São Paulo, Goias, Minas Gerais, and Rio were too high not to give him the clear edge

The evolution of PT presidential support:

Of course you can immediately see that there's always an essential instability to electoral patterns in Brazil. However there is a story here and it links into the PTs attempts in government to hack away at the caste divisions (I don't think 'race' is quite right) in Brazilian society, which has led to a realignment of politics around those divisions.

What's the deal with the great PT result in that far south province in 1998?

I’m not sure. I think RGdS is the richest or one of the richest in brazil

Bolsonaro has promised to close the Palestinian embassy, plus good job electing someone who will destroy the Amazon

So he’s a “nazi” who loves Israel?

Disgusting. From one piece of trash to another.

I believe Obama congratulated Chavez, Morsi, Rouhani, and Morales

I just don't understand why fascism is rising all over the world like this. It's looking like WWIII will have multiple Hitlers, one in Washington, one in Brasilia, and one in Manila at a minimum.

no just no

Yes Trump is bad but comparing him to Hitler, Mussolini or any fascist leader is absolutely false. Yes Trump's rhetoric is horrible and he is a terrible person but he is not a dictator. Actions wise the Patriot Act was far more authoritarian than anything Trump has done

I dont know much about the other two but even then the comparison seems outlandish

Trump is a fascist, and used all the same tactics to rise to power as Hitler did. He wants absolute dictatorial power and as long as Republicans have control of Congress, that's what you get. Fascism is extreme nationalism (Trump literally just called himself a nationalist) combined with a scapegoat (In Nazi Germany, Jews. In 2018 America, Muslims, Mexicans, and immigrants.)

Adolf Hitler filled concentration camps with Jews, Danes, Gypsies, and gays. Donald Trump filled concentration camps with little children legally kidnapped from their mothers. Rodrigo Duterte is having innocent people extra-judiciously killed and now Brazil has a president promising an ethnic cleansing and the imprisonment of his political opponents.

One of these guys is going to start a world war, potentially even a nuclear war.

Hitler committed a Genocide, so if you think Trump in any way is comparable you are a partisan hack of the highest order.

Has Roraima always been right wing or is it because of it bordering Venezuela?
