Well, there goes the neighborhood.

Say goodbye to the Amazon and thus goodbye to a bright future for humanity.

Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. If only Lula (ugh) could have run and actually won, or if people cold have just not been collective idiots and voted for a sane, smart, respectable candidate, the world right now would be a much better place.

Moderator Note: edited out call for murdering politicians in line with longstanding forum policy (yes, even when they are murderous fascists themselves)

Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. If only Bolsonaro had actually been killed, or if Lula (ugh) could have run and actually won, or if people cold have just not been collective idiots and voted for a sane, smart, respectable candidate, the world right now would be a much better place.
Same happened in Colombia, the technocrat lost the left vote to a corrupt huckster, and thus voters chose the new conman for change. The Brazilian left could have rallied behind Ciro Gomes, ushering in a golden age. Instead, personality cultism took over and they rallied for a pathetic copy of a man arrested for corruption.

I mean... probably not. But he would likely have won the election.

Bolsonaro has promised to close the Palestinian embassy, plus good job electing someone who will destroy the Amazon

Anyway, there's a case that the biggest concern here isn't even with Bolsonaro, but with his running mate. Scary man.

The 60s called to say they're about to come by.

I just don't understand why fascism is rising all over the world like this. It's looking like WWIII will have multiple Hitlers, one in Washington, one in Brasilia, and one in Manila at a minimum.

no just no

Yes Trump is bad but comparing him to Hitler, Mussolini or any fascist leader is absolutely false. Yes Trump's rhetoric is horrible and he is a terrible person but he is not a dictator. Actions wise the Patriot Act was far more authoritarian than anything Trump has done

I dont know much about the other two but even then the comparison seems outlandish

Trump is a fascist, and used all the same tactics to rise to power as Hitler did. He wants absolute dictatorial power and as long as Republicans have control of Congress, that's what you get. Fascism is extreme nationalism (Trump literally just called himself a nationalist) combined with a scapegoat (In Nazi Germany, Jews. In 2018 America, Muslims, Mexicans, and immigrants.)

Adolf Hitler filled concentration camps with Jews, Danes, Gypsies, and gays. Donald Trump filled concentration camps with little children legally kidnapped from their mothers. Rodrigo Duterte is having innocent people extra-judiciously killed and now Brazil has a president promising an ethnic cleansing and the imprisonment of his political opponents.

One of these guys is going to start a world war, potentially even a nuclear war.

Not to mention Putin and a militant Russia.

Hitler committed a Genocide, so if you think Trump in any way is comparable you are a partisan hack of the highest order.

From what we've seen in multiple countries, it's entirely possible to support Israel out of consideration for their own domestic and foreign policy interests, and have no love whatsoever for diasporic Jewry.  We've seen this in far-right campaigns to demonize George Soros, who's a stand-in for the (((cosmopolitan))) and (((globalist))) elite.  Besides, Zionism is not equivalent or even connected to Judaism as a whole.  There are Jewish non-Zionists at the same time that there are fundamentalist Christian extreme Zionists.

What policies has Bolsonaro called for that would be considered closest to fascism?
