The Hill story reported earlier today that Dean Heller, who had been considering running for Governor, has decided to run for reelection to the U.S Senate instead.

These are the other Senators who apparently considered running for Governor and have since said they won't (am I missing any?)

Klobucher and Collins too, if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think we've heard anything from Collins.

Yea, she says she's baffled by the speculation, but isn't deciding about anything right now.

Why would any Senator run for governor?  Being in the Senate is a much better job.

For Democrats, I guess... rarely for Republicans/conservatives

Why do you say that?  Even for Republicans the Senate is gridlocked.

Unless they severely limit or eliminate the filibuster, that's not likely to change.

There have been Senators from both parties who ran for governor. A Republican off the top of my head is Dirk Kempthorne.

Of course, for me, a job where I don't have to do anything and where I can legitimitately blame my colleagues for not doing anything, sign me up!  Cheesy

Pete Wilson, Mark Dayton, Sam Brownback, and Diaper Dave didn't think so.

Of course Heller will not run. He is in real danger in 2018. His risk is comparable to Heitkamp and McCaskill.

I'd like to think Heller is very vulnerable, but the Democratic bench in Nevada seems thin to me. You can't beat someone with no one.
