Since 2003 when I first knew what it was. Two people who love each other being able to marry always seemed like a no brainer to me.

I've always considered it normal, and I was extremely surprised when I found out that it still was a very hot issue in the US when I started following politics. The Netherlands legalized gay marriage in 2001, so I'm too young to remember the debate about gay marriage in the Netherlands.

As to when I started supporting marriage equality (and LGBTQ rights in general), it would have to be 2009, just after I graduated from high school.
Transgender rights (and other gender identity issues) came a year or two later.

Didn't know anything about the issue until 2008 at the earliest, so...

I started supporting it after I realized they weren't these evil people I grew up being told about.

I supported it ever since I first heard of the concept.

I've never opposed civil unions and came around on full marriage in the late 90s during my switch from (lapsed) churchy GOP guy into a full on "live and let live" (small l)ibertarian.

Even when I was a homophobic little turd as a teen, I was pro-gay marriage, I failed to see the negative effect on anybody else by allowing homosexuals to marry.

I'm ashamed to admit, I was actually pretty homophobic until pre-2010 or so, even though I was always quite liberal in general having grown up in a Democrat household.  I was a preteen child at the time and had endured years of online torment and stalking circa 2006-2008, and couple of my tormenters happened to be gay or bi, and that happened to be my first real exposure to LGBT people.  (Plus, the word "gay" was almost unanimously considered an insult among my middle school colleagues and that didn't really help, either.)  Although, I was also raised in a very socially accepting household, too, so I really never should have been like that in the first place.  But, again, I was a narrow-minded prepubescent kid. And some irony is that it wasn't long afterwards, at about my early-to-mid teens, that I first started questioning my gender.

But essentially I went straight from being a staunch opponent of gay marriage to a hardline supporter of it, and I think what really helped me along the way was that time in my youth when the majority of my closest friends happened to be LGBT.  I still look back on my past beliefs in complete shame.

But like with all things, learning and growing and stepping outside your bubble changes a lot.  And I'm glad I got on that path before supporting LGBT rights became super trendy and popular.

Yeah, that's a big problem. I have to say, one of my proudest (though minor) achievements in school was making my friends stop using "gay" as an insult three years ago Cheesy

I have always supported it.

Until about 2004, I approached it as "I believe that marriage is between man and woman, but do not believe that government policy should necessarily reflect my religious beliefs." This was due to my Catholic faith.

Post-2004, I was a full backer both legally and personally.

Supported Civil Unions beginning in 2013, although I varied on whether it should be an issue for the federal government to address. Joined the "it's settled law" camp after SCOTUS ruling. I will probably never support SSM personally due to it being an affront to God.

May I ask what denomination you are? (I'd guess Lutheran, but you might be a Presbyterian.)

As soon as I learned that it existed. I guess 2002-2003ish. It was originally a bit "whatever, do whatever you want I guess." I became more positively in favor around...2011 or so? I'm kind of embarrassed that it took me that long, but eh.

Called myself a Presbyterian for most of my childhood, currently I don't consider myself to be a member of any particular denomination. The church I most frequently attend is part of the Great Commission Movement.

In high school in 2006 on 14th amendment grounds, despite being both very Catholic and decidedly right-wing at that point in time.
