Well I tried to cut down the number of people but it is very hard to do especially when you want the entire Senate to be a part of these hearings, as I do so that the people who will be make the final decision on whether or not to pass any bill presented by the commission will be able to ask questions and give advice. That's 10 people right there plus the SoFA and Deputy SoFA so that's 12 plus the Chief Justice that's 13. That's the lowest number that you could have but that makes it too much a Senate organization. Also this bills says nothing about commission members giving evidence or being questioned by the commission so in theory even if the SoFA or the VP is part of the commission he could still be questioned or brought before the commission to give testimony.

Sen. Colin, could you pick one version on which we can have a vote? The Senate rules do not seem to make provision for alternative versions of the same amendment; in any case, I think that picking one version would make everything much simpler.

Well first I would like people's opinion of which one is better. That is why I proposed two versions in the first place because I could not decide between the two. If that is all right with you.

Okay, that's fine then. I doubt that anyone will object; so I will hold an informal, non-binding vote for the Senate.

Rank the following in order of preference:
[ ] Version 1
[ ] Version 2
[ ] The current version

The main problem I have with the current version is that it doesn't give all that much say to the Senators who will be involved in the actual law making process once a bill such as this one comes out of this commission. Without the key element of the Senators at least present we could come up with a document that none of us deem acceptable and then we will end up in the same gridlock that we were in with the Secret Ballot Act.

The popular opinion seems to be that the current version is best, and that version 2 is better than 1. Would Sen. Colin like me to open a vote on version 2, or would he wish to drop the amendment?

I would like to present Version 2 before the Seante as an amendment to this bill.

The question is on Version 2 of the Wixted Amendment. All those in favor, say Aye; those opposed, say No.

Cosmo Kramer has indicated that he is absent; FuturePrez is assumed to be absent. Both are also assumed to have abstained. Thus, only PBrunsel is left to vote.

You obviously do not have any confidence in your Vice President.

Heh, I'd just rather not have a tie in the first place, makes it run more smoothly IMO. Smiley

I would be very disappointed if I never get a chance to break a tie during my term.
