Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

The current tenor of discussion here isn't good for my peace of mind. I'm contributing to the problem myself--just a few minutes ago I absolutely blew up at a poster I normally get along fine with and deleted the post a few seconds later, something erratic and uncharitable that I'd never do in a normal political, social, and moral climate.

I'll be back whenever the news cycle has moved on to something less civilization-shattering. If that never ends up happening then I'll be back for the conventions.

Stay well, everyone.

Sad to hear, Nathan.  Your presence will be missed.  Looking forward to hearing from you again soon, and obviously there's FB if you ever want to chat.

With how this year is going, I don't think you'll be back anytime soon.

I don't blame you, and depending on how this all continues to unfold, you likely will be joined by others needing the same. Things are ugly now, but they have the potential to get much uglier.

You are not sticking around for the Alien invasion of Manhattan Island and the great Brooklyn area in July?

It's a disturbing time when polite hatred is valued over loud justice. It's hard to navigate. I hope you come back soon.

I find this statement to be indefensible.  Looting, burning buildings, causing injury and death to shopkeepers defending their property; all of that is happening and none of that is justice.  It's vengeance, pure and simple.  Justice is going on in the Court system.  Vengeance is going on in the streets.

It is a shame when a good poster needs to leave the Forum at a time when people are less rational than ever all around, but I can understand such a decision, and have thought of taking the same course of action myself.  I do find myself becoming very angry at some here, and that's not healthy.  I, too, have deleted a few uncharitable posts before people could comment on them.

The number of posters who contribute significant value to US-related discussions is at an all time low. Your departure will definitely not go unnoticed when there are so few alternatives to read.
