I am not sure if anyone has heard of the Clamavi De Profundis, but these guys are real Tolkien fans, and they sound like professional singers:

Song of Durin (Complete Edition)

The Hobbit - Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (Extended Cover)

Lament for Boromir

I started out listening to traditional Gaelic songs, and this is where YouTube eventually put me:

This is a beautiful rendition of the song 'Wayfaring Stranger':

I love the setting too.

And here is the original from the Cold Mountain soundtrack as sung by Jack White that I was introduced to while watching the movie:

For those who want to know what the Roman emperors actually looked like behind their marble likeness that we see today:

It's really much better than what I was expecting.  I imagine, though, that reconstructing the faces of the third century emperors is going to take a bit longer than those in the first two videos....

Here is the first batch of 3rd century Roman emperors:

There were apparently so many emperors in that tumultuous century that they had to separate them into two videos.

Here is an aspect of the Second World War that I don't think gets enough attention:

I really like this guy's channel.  I have been watching his videos for awhile now, and though they pretty much just fill in gaps of what I already knew about the war, they are nonetheless fascinating to watch.  He even occasionally takes trips to some of the sites, like the Maginot Line.

It is also worth noting that he mentioned somewhere in one of his videos that the house he films in (presumably he owns it) has historical significance to the Second World War.  Or rather the person who owned it then.

These are two of the most interesting videos on the archaeology of the Eastern Front during the Second World War that I have been watching.  From what I gather, these Russian excavators and metal detectors seem to be connected to the Russian military:

Edit: Is there some reason why they are not showing up?  Oh, well I have put up the links directly.

An amazing reconstruction of imperial Rome in what I think is either the 3rd or 4th centuries, AD:

In case you're curious about what the world might have sounded like 66-65 million years ago before the extinction of the (non-avian) dinosaurs if you were standing in a tropical rainforest somewhere:

Behold the wonders of artificial intelligence -these are AI generated images of famous characters, peoples/creatures, places, and events in Tolkien's book 'The Silmarillion', starting with the creation of Arda (Middle Earth) to the War of Wrath:

Now here is the AI interpretation of our favorite LOTR characters (some of them, anyways). Check out the comparison with Peter Jackson's cast:

The older version of Frodo reminds me of Benedict Cumberbatch.

AI strikes again, this time bringing back to life long-dead languages (or long-dead versions of still-living languages):

Though they seem to have struggled with old Chinese.  It sounds weird and unnatural, suggesting researchers clearly haven't gotten a handle on it yet.

This kid can cook!

Mom clearly taught him well.  And I am assuming she is the one doing the filming.

This must be somewhere in the Thai countryside.
