I visited all the websites of all 58 California counties. I was able to get detailed results for write-ins in only 5 of them (I couldn't even find *any* results for Plumas on their website). The five are Humboldt, Tehama, Glenn, Yolo, and Nevada. Many counties didn't even have write in votes listed. Others had them lumped together as "Write Ins."

There's no sense in posting their results right now since they're still likely to change.

I checked Vermont's results and they have write-ins listed. Unfortunately, their list isn't very organized and there's a lot of duplicates (in addition to the spelling errors that they counted).

Has Wyoming added up their write-in votes for McMullin? I'd imagine that he would pay their fee. (Bernie results there will probably go uncounted).

Didn't write ins win about 10% of the vote in VT? Wikipedia doesn't list them; it shows VT voting 61-32 Clinton; these write ins should push Clinton's VT share down to around 55%.

I think Atlas originally lumped Stein with the write ins in VT, but that has since been corrected.

Out in CA, Imperial County also has write ins broken down.

Following this pdf from the SoS,

http://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/statewide-elections/2016-general/unprocessed-ballots-report.pdf

About a dozen counties have finished finished reporting, five of which have their write-ins listed by candidates. Some counties only count write ins of official write in candidates. Plumas County's pdf looks like they printed the document, used a typewriter to add in Sanders and McMullin, and then scanned that document and uploaded it.

Bernie Sanders/Tulsi Gabbard
Glenn 58 0.61%
Plumas 120 1.22%
San Francisco 1,342 0.33%
Siskyou 269 1.31%
Tehama 139 0.58%
1,928 total votes so far

Evan McMullin/Nathan Johnson
Glenn 31 0.33%
Plumas 51 0.52%
San Francisco 226 0.06%
Siskyou 104 0.51%
Tehama 82 0.34%
494 total votes so far

Mike Maturen/Juan Munoz
Glenn 2
Plumas 0
San Francisco 17
Siskyou 5
Tehama 3
27 votes so far

Lawrence Kotlikoff/Edward Leamer
Glenn 0
Plumas 0
San Francisco 11
Siskyou 1
Tehama 0
12 votes so far

Jerry White/Niles Niemuth
Glenn 0
Plumas 0
San Francisco 1
Siskyou 0
Tehama 0
1 vote so far

No sense in dealing with percentages for Maturen, Kotlikoff, or White.

Statewide, I'm expecting Sanders to get about 0.75% and McMullin about 0.25%

Edit 1: Total Votes from Counties with Write-Ins broken down: 472,244
Sanders: 0.41%
McMullin: 0.10%

Perhaps my estimates were a bit high. The results so far are definitely mostly based on SF's results. Hopefully more counties will finish and post their results. I'd imagine that the SoS will have write in figures eventually.

That's quite Shocking. Is this the best write in performance ever?

I can't find anything about the presidential election itself, but I can find presidential primary results. For example, in 1928, Hoover won the Massachusetts primary with 100,279 write in votes.

26 of 58 counties have their official write ins where I could find them. This is from yesterday. I'll take another look tomorrow at the remainders. Any that I don't find by next week will be getting emails/phone calls.

Bernie broke 2% (but not 2.5%) in Humboldt. There's a few other northern CA counties where he's broken 1%. McMullin has broken 0.5% in a few counties.

Will Jerry White get 55 votes? It could be close.
