Life expectancy is pretty good if you have the means and genes.

It would mean his VP choice is very important, like McCain's was. But as long as he avoids the Democratic Sarah Palin it wouldn't be a big issue.

How well he'd do against Trump's dirty tactics in a GE is a whole other story.

Who is the Democratic equivalent of Sarah Palin exactly?

Loretta Sanchez, who just lost big to Kamala Harris.

79 year youngs don't win elections. And Bernie couldn't even defeat a very flawed candidate.

To be fair, he could never overcome the delegate lead she got out of the south, because blacks voted as a block for Hillary and there was nothing he could do to win them over. Without a Clinton to run against he could do well with the black community.

Well, to be equally as fair, he could have actually spent some time in his long and supposedly illustrious career reaching out to black communities and taking on their issues in his work. I mean, you're kind of discounting one of Hillary's biggest strengths. She's a listener. Sometimes she listens too much and ends up getting a muddied message (this happened in the general election, as insecure whites felt "oppressed" because she had the audacity to address other concerns), but the black community felt comfortable with her. Bernie could have had that if he had actually cared.

Your perfect candidate has flaws too. Roll Eyes

I'm not convinced Sanders would have won this year at all. I am convinced that Biden would have won, though. Either way, both of them are too old for 2020 - it's just not going to happen. We need a new generation of democratic politicans.

Goodman is just like Dick Morris: when he says something you know it won't happen.

He would have done worse than her.
All the "Bernie Sanders candidates" did worse than Clinton: Teachout, Feingold,...

There could be a few of them. One potential is Tulsi Gabbard.

HA Goodman thread?I think the OP get a temporary ban for this.

This goof Goodman posts 1 after the other ridiculous stuff & does more harm to Bernie than good. Who knows this goof maybe a Clinton campaign plant to piss people off with his over the top constant ridiculousness!

Bernie is a once is a lifetime candidate & is incredibly fit - The guy went coast to coast & campaigned in multiple states a day for Clinton. I don't know how fit he will after 2.5 years because realistically presidential campaigns have to be announced by Jan-June 2019.

It is upto him & i would support him but discussion at this point is absurd seeing he has given no indications that he will run despite prodding by many people - Even this week on CBS he said he is more of a movement, revolution & people's guy that a leader!

If there's one tiny little silver lining out of this election, it's that we won't have to hear this guy endlessly yapping away for four straight years about how Clinton is the spawn of Satan.

EDIT: Apparently, he's still churning out dozens of Clinton hate videos.  It doesn't seem he has anything better to talk about.

The left is gonna push me out of this party. I hope Warren sits him down.

I don't know that it's as simple as "left." It's very clearly coming down to intersectionalists vs. (white) populists. I know where I stand and I know which I approach I believe is actually more progressive, but... good luck getting that across. I may just be back to the green avatar by the end of this too.

I wonder if he is on some kind of restraining order. He is completely 100% obsessed with Clinton hate. The man is not right in the head.

Sure, why not? He would have won this year.

I guess people assume he'll be too old. Go watch a Ron Paul 2008 debate performance and then a 2012 Ron Paul debate performance. Age matters a lot at that point.

But he can still use Reagan's "Youth and Inexperience" argument against Trump. Trump is younger and less experienced than Sanders. If Sanders were really to run in 2020, he might, due to his age, have to make the pledge to make only one term in office.

I know this is crass but will he even be around by then?

This.

I think the Dems need to look for a younger, fresher face, but still keep the progressive agenda. And someone who the voters can actually trust.

Why are we even discussing this ridiculous issue? It is 4 years back. Only in 2018 end after Mid-terms are over then you should be discussing this!

also, yeah, this whole board was born way too early, and it's not a healthy baby.  We should have aborted it when we had the chance.
