2. 2000s(A very  close number two, and if aotc was a good a rotj it would be number one)
3. 1990s
4. 1970s
5. 2010s.

I'm not doing this decade until its over, instead I'll add the 60's.

It chronologically gets worse and worse, until this decade finally moved the needle the correct way again (coincidentally politics returned a little leftwards from a rightwards drop)

Yes, but these superhero movies at least have self-awareness and try to be fun.

Besides Spiderman, X-Men, Iron Man, and Nolan's films...the 2000s had a glut of superhero movies that took themselves too seriously [what else do you call Daredevil,Elektra, or Hulk anyway].

Any not melodramatic superhero movie all tied itself around terrorism or overplayed the need for America to save the day. And waaay too much Michael Bay. Oh and Dr. Seuss eff ups

And remakes were a problem back then too.

And animation has improved too, with DreamWorks being decidedly less obnoxious, Disney producing Wreck-It Ralphs and Zootopias instead of Chicken Littles and Homes on the Ranges, and things like The Boxtrolls or ParaNorman or The Book of Life. Also Pixar made Inside Out and TS3...before anyone says "muh Cars 2/Brave/MU"

As chaotic as the 70s were, it was amazing for films. Both Godfathers, Apocalypse Now, the first Star Wars, A Clockwork Orange, Monty Python, the first Alien film, etc.

It's got to be the 70s on top.  My favorite movies are generally from the 90s, but that's because I'm generally from the 90s, but I can't deny the great sh**t that came out the decade I was born.  The Doctor named some, I'll add Blazing Saddles and Rocky to an already great list.  It was also the decade when the indie directors got out from under Roger Corman's awesome wing and started working for the studios.  John Waters, Mel Brooks and David Lynch all got big in 70s too.  The best horror movies are from the 70s... especially if you're more into creepyweird than blood, gore and jump scares.

2. 2000s (LOTR, Bourne, Harry Potter, etc.)
3. 2010s (how can I not high preference the decade with the majority of MCU films?)
4. 1990s (the movies aren't terrible)
5. 1970s
6. 1960s
7. 1950s (I saw one film, I didn't like it)

It's 2016 guys. We're just barely getting to the point where we can discuss and rank the 2000's. 2010's should be nowhere near decade lists yet.

Maybe because one tends to watch the ones that have stood the test of time, but the 1920's deserves at least a mention.

I mean, just the Buster Keaton movies are glorious, not to mention Chaplin, Fritz Lang, F W Murnau, Erich von Stroheim, soviet filmmakers like Pudovkin or Eisenstein, King Vidor, G W Pabst, etc.

Depends on the tastes.

1980s was the golden decade of the entertainment movies: the last Star Wars of the original trilogy, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Blade Runner, ET, Goonies, Terminator, Karate Kid

2000s was a good decade for cult movies

Lots of good films from the 1950s.  Too many to name.  Italian, French, and American Film noir was especially good from that period (Federico Fedellini, Auguste Le Breton, Robert Aldrich, etc.)

The 60s and early 70s were good too, especially the Sam Peckinpah movies and spaghetti westerns.

The 1980s featured Fast Times, Ferris Beuller, Breakfast Club, ET, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and a bunch of peurile, but memorable films I remember from my high school days.

The 90s featured Silence of the Lamb, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Forrest Gump, and quite a few others that I remember from my grad school days.  Also, a few good Spanish films from Pedro Almodóvar came from this decade.

The 2000s featured a number of excellent films by Almodóvar, but little else.

I'd say it goes like this:

1.  50s
2.  60s & 70s (tie)
4.  90s
5.  80s
6.  Early 2000s

2000s had great entertainment movies as well

You had The LOTOR series, Harry Potter series, the beginning of the best bond era since the 1960s, You had the best super hero movies ever : Spiderman 1 and 2, Batman Begins and TDK, Iron Man, the Jason Bourne trilogy, Revenge of the sith , Live Free or Die Hard, Fast and Furious series began in the 2000s. 1980s is still number number one but 2000s had great movies

Pretty much anything after the Old 10's is solid. The medium was too new and growing at that point.

This decade is my least favorite since that point.
