B-b-b-b-but muh #BattlegroundMaine Cry

Maine as a whole won't be closer than NH. ME-02 could be close, but it looks like Democrats there are coming home for Hillary.

On interesting thing is over the last month Trump campaign has spent about $1/4 mil on CD2 in ME but just last week Team Clinton started countering with their own ad spending. It was just $50k last week but it was the first time they seem to have done anything to defend ME2.

Why would anyone spend a dime on ME-02?
In what kind of freak scenario could that one EV decide the winner?

This one?

269-269 and it goes to the House.  If ME-02 stays D, Clinton wins.

None of those three maps is realistic.
Particularly the one giving New Hampshire to Trump (LOL).

First, $50K is not going to break the bank, nor would another follow-up $50K.
Second, the ad buying could also reach into NH and help to secure that state for Hillary, and possibly also help the close Senate race in NH.

Quite true.  But you asked about freak scenarios, not realistic ones:
