I am in favor of patriotism. This is because I love this country where hard work pays off and anyone can grow up to be successfull.

I'm patriotic... about Indiana Grin  And East Timor :S I think I'm more patriotic about East Timor than America, oops Tongue

Overall, I'm neutral.  It can get kind of annoying sometimes, especially when people accuse you of being unpatriotic because you are liberal Tongue

Mixed feelings. As Philip noted, it can lead to more government control, but without it, we'd all be living in a couple of superestates.

I am, and always will be Patriotic, even when my nation does something wrong.  We are all human, including those in our government.  We should be mature enough to except reality and yet hold on to the dream which this country shares.

Patriotism is by and large a good thing... Nationalism on the other hand is by and large a bad thing.

Perhaps oversimplified, but it's what I tend to think

agreed

Then why the "Look who's talking"?  If you realized it was a joke why did you need to retort?

How could you possibly hate our very own UNION INDEPENDECNEC DAY? Are you a Confederate? Do you celebrate February 4th instead? Please leave my nation if you are not to love it with your heart.

Roll Eyes  I was not debating the legality of whether or not you can say random nonsensical things.  I was asking what prompted you to say it.

Well yes, since you keep responding.  Good way to ignore the questions I asked in my post btw.

Ok! I admit it. I'm not funny. My attempt at a joke has led me to shame. I am sorry.

It can be used for....

let's celebrate the day we seperated from an oppresive ruler and gained our independence as a nation!

or

flying our flags outside after the 9/11 attacks

Wee!  I love that, but it can be...

let's bomb the  out of those A-rabs and if you don't want to your un-American.

That's the BS redneck patriotism that half the country practices.

StatesRights and Preston, patriotism is also standing up and disagreeing with certain people.  TakeOurCountryBack clearly doesn't 'hate' America - he hates the people that he feels are destroying it.  Which shows that he's just as patriotic as all the flag-waving warmongerers.

If undermining a war effort is "patriotic" then this country is f*ed.
