History doesn't favor the VP candidates as of late, so it seems

He will run - and he will lose.

He will run and he could win. I don't like the guy, but he comes off better on TV then any of the current GOP contenders and that is half of the battle right there.

Trump runs in 2020 and narrowly wins nomination a la William Jennings Bryan.

And loses again.

I think he'll run and lose, not because he's tainted by being on a losing national ticket, but because he's not that impressive a political talent.

But his chances are better than it was three months ago.

If Trump wins which is unlikely at this point then Mike Pence will probably be the Republican nominee in 2020 or 2024 but if Trump loses then Mike Pence will most likely run for president but not get the nomination. If Trump loses Ted Cruz will probably be the Republican nominee in 2020

Either him or Rubio. Rubio has a better comeback narrative  and fits the neocon/theocon consensus that Trump shat upon which many will say let D's get their first since term in almost 70 years.

Absolutely not. I'm 100% sure that he's going to be the Walker/Pawlenty of 2016. He won't even make it to Iowa.

I can see him as an early climaxer. Another thing I have noticed is that only candidates from establishment alma maters really make it that far at the Presidential level. Though a lot of Veeps and veep candidates come from public and regional institutions. If this is more than just coincidence, it would make Cruz the early favorite.

He's peaking too early.

But honestly, my answer to any of these questions is going to be no. Nobody has a greater than 50% chance at the nomination.

No. Pence may run, or at least launch an exploratory committee, but the stench of burnt dumpster will cling to him forever.

He could run and he could win, but I would certainly take "the field" over him. Being VP has absolutely elevated his profile and I think he's done a good job of not alienating anyone, but he will have a very tough path to walk in a post-Trump world.

Pence would be way better than either Kasich or Cruz; who didn't cover themselves in glory this cycle; how does Pence-Rubio sound?

Yeah, pretty much. The only way I see Pence becoming president is by Trump winning, and somehow being a good president. Then, in 2024, Pence could win.

I expect the Republicans to nominate a slicker version of Trump, more respectable on the surface.  All the same dog-whistle "-isms" that appeal to the hard-core Trump supporter, but with less of the undisciplined idiocy.
