Judith Miller (the right-wing pro-war reporter who had conversations with Rove) appears to be in deep sh**t.

The point is, here, we can get the facts.  The war was the only way to get them.  Now if Rove barricades himself in his office... .

The war was the only way to get the facts? What about the weapons inspectors? Saddam was going to allow thousands of US soldiers to inspect too, because he had nothing to hide. You have some serious double standards.

The point is didn't, for years.

Now Rove, it has been revealed, actually waived any privilege.  That kinda makes me suspect that he has nothing to hide (but it don't mean that the grand jury shouldn't look).

Double standard

Oh, then you don't think that Saddam Hussien should be on trial?

That would be stunning, if accurate.

Where is Bob Novak in all of this?

Testifying to the grand jury.  He talked and appearently did not name Rove.

He said way back when this started that Rove was not his source.  I don't know why he would lie (if Rove was his source, he would certainly refuse to confirm or deny it), so I believe he is telling the truth.  That in no way exonerates Rove, but it seems there are as many suggestions that Rove wasn't the source as there are rumors saying that he was.

Whomever did leak the information might have planned it this way:

1.  Leak the info.

2.  Cast Rove (who's innocent) as the leaker.

3.  Reveal information that Rove didn't do it, and discredit people like Jfern, who were screaming for Rove's head.  They look like fools, Rove looks like a victim, and the leaker gets away with it.  Nasty, but effective.

And I get accused of having conspiracy theories. No, it's pretty clear that Rove was involved in this.

Being interviewed by a reporter, who doesn't run the story, doesn't equal involvement.

But Novak did. The players are Novak, Miller, Cooper, and Rove here. BTW, Miller is very connected to Chalabi.

Miller is a hero for covering for Rove?  Or do you not believe that is who she is protecting?

Chalabi and Rove supporting right-wing propagandists who interfere with the justice system are not heroes.

OK, I can respect your position, though I don't agree with it.  I'm glad your beliefs aren't modified based on what party might benefit.

What makes this even more outrageous is that neither Miller nor Cooper even released the info.
Make no mistake about it, journalism itself is attacked here.

When you're involved in a politically motivated grand treason case, anonymity isn't guaranteed. Besides, why should reporters get such immunity? The blogs do more actual reporting.

Like politicians, journalists can get comfortable and begin to think themselves above the law.  They get too comfortable and think they can create the news in whatever shape they want.

Journalism should be challenged.

Personally, I think that the following is a comprehensive list of what should be challenged before it's accepted:

- Everything

I think it would do a lot of people good if, before they posted something they randomly found on the internet as fact, they checked to see if it falls in this list.

Unlike the right, the left actually challenges things before they're accepted. The right had us invade Iraq for no good reason.
