Trump won the debate and the election.

You're one of a kind.

First 20 minutes was bad for Trump but he turned it around toward the end. Doubtful that'll help him much though.

Why wouldn't it help him?

Trump will get most of the undecideds after this. Trump wins PV 48-46%.

To be honest, I don't think this debate will move the needle much either way.

I don't see how you see this as a Trump win.  Really, a man who accuses others of rape, was unhinged for most of the debate, prancing back and forth won?  Really?

I don't think it was a clear win for either candidate, but because the bar was set so low for Donald, I guess he did "win".  It won't move the needle in his direction very much, though.

As for who lost the debate, it was clearly the American people.

Trump tonight:

Split with Pence on Syria
Threatened to jail opponent
Admitted to paying no taxes

And people think he won?

The latter two make him a RED-BLOODED ALPHA MALE!!!!!, you see.

Hillary was objectively better, but Trump won the expectations game.  It wasn't a disaster for him, and that's about the best he could have hoped for at this point.

That was the biggest bloodbath in American history, just as soon as I jumped ship for Stein. I'm ashamed that I ever lost faith. Literally perfect in every way.

Now if only Pence will quit the ticket, I will feel good again.

In terms of how these things are usually assessed, it was a tie. Trump's "you'd be in jail" and "I'm a gentleman, Hillary" will go down as all-time memorable quips.

I think it's a tie. Trump had about half the performance that he needed. He also made a number of idiots balls (he doesn't pay taxes, he doesn't talk to Pence or know what he's saying). His threat to prosecute Clinton if he wins was idiotic.

Clinton had the chance to put a stake in Trump, cut off his head, and stuff his mouth with garlic. Instead she played defense much of the night. She didn't make any big mistakes, and mostly stuck with her pledge to keep above Trump.

I agree with this summary and voted tie.  Strategically, though, that's a loss for Trump because he's behind and time is running out.

Yeah, I agree and should have been clearer.

Tactical tie, which is a strategic loss for Trump. He needed a real win here, and Clinton didn't give him one.

I mean by normal standards Clinton won but as has been abundantly made clear the standards are so different and low for Trump that I overall think he didn't do that bad.

I think him literally not saying "Grab Her by the Pussy" during the debate probably counts as a win for him among some.

As a Johnson voter, this was a clear and decisive win for Clinton.

Clinton for mine. She was off her game and did appear flustered somewhat by Trump's attacks, and Trump did get some alright answers in during the middle period of the debate. So by expectations Trump probably cleared a very low bar whereas Hillary was not as good as the first debate. But he also had some massive gaffes and he had an awful start and some poor answers near the finish. Clinton did reasonably well on substance, but had her bad moments too. Still I think she was overall better, as her weaker moments were less bad than Trump.

Overall though, I can't see this changing much.

Pence is utterly fantastic, and he'd be an amazing President, just below Huckabee and above many of my other favorites.

I don't know who won as I didn't really watch it except a few moments, and I'm apathetic, so whatever.   But we'll call it a tie based on the brief perusal of Twitter.

Trump won big league and pulled a 1980. This is exactly what I was hoping for so i'm glad. I felt bad for Hillary though. I was stunned when Trump actually was talking policy.
Again you really think unhinged is winning?  I don't get republicans.

I'm not sure how Trump won, that Pence thing is going to be talked about a lot. Considering the VP debate just happened it is odd they never discussed a major policy dispute.

HRC wasn't great at all, kind of flat but Trump had too many lows.
