How is this a long-term win for Mike Pence? Aside from the ~5 minutes on abortion toward the end, he spent nearly the entire debate talking about his running mate... most of which involved either denying that Trump had said things that all of us know that he's said or making incredibly tendentious excuses.

Pence is getting fact-checked for filth right now... so, we'll see.

I said in IRC, it kind of reminds me of the RNC Paul Ryan speech from 2012. It came across well as did he, but he got fact-checked almost immediately and it buried the positive spin.

He was calm and came across well on TV.....sadly that kind of stuff matters and people will remember that and not what was actually said.

I realize that it matters to the people who need to fill airtime for a couple of hours after the debate and have nothing else to talk about. But how does anyone actually expect it to hold up to scrutiny?

I really, really hope that your comparison pans out, Polnut.

Man, sometimes I think (when it's not an election year I guess) that Megyn Kelly is full of it. And maybe that cartoon is true - when no one's watching she's crazy, but when everyone's watching, she's a Very Serious Journalist. But she is taking Kellyanne to TASK right now.

Just watched Eric Trump on CNN. Methinks we have the wrong Trump running for office.

She is a pro, just one who happens to be staunchly conservative. See also Chris Wallace

Can I get a clip of this?  Might be too soon, but I'd love to see someone call Kellyanne on her bullsh**t.

Sometimes. Wallace is great. Tune into the Kelly file and it's the Benghazi Clinton Foundation Email show 4/5 of the time. Watch her when she knows she has a large national audience, and she's golden.

You won't, because that's not the Megyn she wants her main audience to see. Just the one she wants the network bigwigs to see.  She wants her audience to see her just retweeting as follows:

Megyn Kelly 13m13 minutes ago
.@KellyannePolls: There is no question under that under Obama admin the U.S. is less respected around the world. #KellyFile

Megyn Kelly ‏  13m13 minutes ago
.@KellyannePolls on #VPDebate: "@timkaine was never answering the question." #KellyFile

 Megyn Kelly 14m14 minutes ago
.@KellyannePolls: “The American ppl know that [@HillaryClinton] has insulted people, that she has disdain for lots of Americans." #KellyFile

Again, more democrats than a usual national poll.

Pence won 48%-42%. Nearly 70% said Pence overperformed expectations.

CNN Flash Poll:

Skewed Democratic though:

Pence 48%
Kaine 42%

43% thought Kaine did worse than expected, 67% thought Pence did better than expected.

lol 6 point margin is not a big win. Especially considering Clinton won her debate by over 30.

I don't see how a 6 point lead is a big win.

lol 6 point margin is not a big win.

It is when the sample is notably more Dem than the actual electorate.

+6 is not winning big.

I would not say Kaine won big if the polls showed him +6 either.

I've never been so underwhelmed by the actual content of a post vs. it's title.

You have a career at Buzzfeed my good sir.

They didn't say notably, they said slightly more Democrats. Which would explain why the responses to them individually was strong.

Pence's performance was not well received by the Donald:

A 6 point loss in the debate will not change a thing. That's almost a draw
