24 years after his father's defeat at the polls, Donald Trump pursued his own political career and ran for Governor of New Jersey in 2029; he won the governorship and served for 7 years, he was elected in 2036 and after a successful first term, is reelected in 2040 against Chelsea Clinton.

Chelsea Clinton would not be down or out; she would bide her time and plot a return 8 years later and be like Nixon in her "Lazarus" like return from the political wilderness. Running in 2044 would not be an option as she would have the "loser" image firmly affixed to her.
