No surprise. Not even sure why Utah even bothers to hold elections anymore outside of UT-4. Republicans win in a YUGE landslide no matter what.
UT-02 and UT-04 are both potentially competitive under the correct, very narrow, circumstances.
Goes to show you how the GOP did everything they could to keep a Democrat out of the delegation.
Salt Lake City proper was put it in with part of Davis County and a big part of Rural Utah, and half of West Valley.
The other half of West Valley, along with more Democratic cities of South Salt Lake, Murray, Milcreek, Taylorsville, were put with heavily Republican Southern Salt Lake County and parts of Utah, Juab and Sanpete Counties in UT-04.
Very insane, and blatantly partisan if you ask me! They did an EXCELLENT job in diluting the Democratic vote.
UT-04 is slightly easier, simply because residents of Southern Salt Lake County are slightly more open to Democrats and are more use to being governed by Democrats locally.
Of course, Matheson may have had a shot against Mike Lee.. but the liberals in Utah were bashing him non stop, which I think lead to him retiring.
