Clinton still up 26% in NoVa, +7 in the Richmond area, and +12 in the Tidewater. That's really all that matters here. The western part of the state doesn't have the population to match that.

Also if I remember right, this poll was very pro-Romney in 2012.

Crosstab is quite crazy

http://www.roanoke.edu/Documents/rcpoll/RCPoll.PoliticsSept2016Crosstabs.pdf

Indpendent :  Hillary 37% | TRUMP 29%
Independent(Except leaner) : Hillary 13% | TRUMP 38%

what is this?

Clinton's 4 way lead for Roanoke did fall from 16 in mid Aug to 7 today.  In a similar poll in 2012 in late Sept Roanoke had Obama +8 so in that sense VA most likely will have a similar result as 2012.  This poll also proved that Trump did gain a lot of ground since Aug.

I’m curious how StatesPoll explains this time why his hero Mr. Drumpf is down. Oversampled Democrats?

- too small a sample
- too many Democrats
- too few Independents
etc etc

So most Johnson voters prefer Hillary to Trump here. Not too surprising given it's VA.

Q49. And our final political question, which we hope will add
some humor to what many people
think is an unpleasant campaign. Who would you
most trust to stay at your house and take care of
your pet while you were on vacation

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, or a Roanoke College student?

Trump 10%
Clinton 13
RC student 73%
Refused 4%

What a day brightener. The long shot PA/WI/NH/MI fantasies remain Trump's only path.

Well well, if the orange-skinned clown pulls it off in IA, CO, NV and ME-02 in addition to FL and OH, he would be over the top as well. But neither of these fantasies will actually happen. Hillary will win this thing by a pretty substantial margin.

They might be trash, but their numbers aren't too far from the Q numbers, and since Roanoke came first it wouldn't be "poll herding" to try to match an established and legit polling outfit.

That has got to sting badly for Conservatives, that the birthplace of Robert E. Lee and the state that held the Confederate capital is now part of the 272 friewall.
