When I heard about the Mitt 47% speech in 2012 I was very disappointed and upset about it.  It was a terrible decision to even give this speech, and this speech should never have been made.

Mitt's statements and Mitt himself deserved to be criticized and condemned for sure, and they were, relentlessly, but I personally do not believe that Mitt's statements were degrading or vitriolic and were certainly not hateful like the statements made by Hillary about certain sectors of the American public.

Lincoln Republican,
Why is it I have to keep driving the same huge chisel in your head.

Should be reported as a personal attack, however, being such a magnanimous person, I won't.

In the entire post/message that I left for you, that is how you want to respond ?
Really ?
By the way, your post had my knees severely shivering from fright.

Hillary Clinton: Racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, are deplorable things, and a lot of Trump's supporters practice them.

Why in the world would this offend people who don't consider themselves racists, sexists, homophobes, xenophobes, Islamophobes?

Hillary Clinton said that half of Trump's supporters are deplorable and that they're racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. She had no right to say that. She labeled people who she knows nothing about. She went too far. She should be ashamed of herself for saying such awful things about millions of people. I would not stoop so low as to judge and label people who I don't even know. I'm a Trump supporter but I won't label Hillary's supporters.

I won't label Hillary's supporters because I know nothing about them and I don't have the right to judge them. I know nothing about Hillary's supporters but I know about Hillary. She is prejudice. I wish that judging and labeling those people was the only incident of her bigotry but there have been others. I have a message for Hillary: "Before you judge any other innocent people, you should take a good look at yourself but you'll probably puke when you do".

But you know what is the funniest and most ironical here? Smiley

That we probably don't see the full effect of her remark.

Yeah, this should increase share of Shy Trump voters (may be considerably). It might be canceled out by underestimation of Hispanic voters or some other stuff, but... yeah, don't be shocked on election day. Don't be shocked Wink

As of right now, I kind of hope that it is, because that means that Trump's current numbers are his high water mark.

You mean that it will just fade away? If it was impro, may be, but it was a prepared remark. In front of wealthy donors. And then Hillary kind of doubled down it Smiley

More importantly is how the dinosaur media is covering this remark.  Romney was torn apart while Clinton gets a pass from places like PMSNBC.  Poor guy couldn't give his dog a bath without the media hassling him.

I've got a theory.

There is [was?] a huge gender gap in this election. Ans as we know, men vote for Trump.

So when Hillary called those men a "deplorables", it could trigger undecided/third-party/Hillary women that currently have relationship with those men to switch to Trump. I looked only at CNN:s recent polls, so it might just coincidence. But

Ohio 4-way, LV (with leaners):
Men:       50/37  Trump+13
Women:  42/44  Clinton +2

Florida 4-way, LV (with leaners):
Men:       51/37   Trump +14
Women:  43/50   Clinton +7

Trump's lead among men is pretty normal, but Clinton's lead is tiny [and shrank?]...

Actually, I think, it might help Trump. I couldn't believe my eyes/ears when I read/listened 538. They just coldly analyze, if Clinton was correct. There are also a lot of articles in mainstream media with title ~"Clinton is right". They didn't get it, did they? Smiley

It will help Trump and the dinosaur media will act as if there's no way it's possible.

Or, just maybe (sorry to interrupt the echo chamber here) Republicans only do well because no polls of those states are taken.

You've never heard of a Republican winning an election?  In elections Republicans win there's less polls taken.  Stop looking at polls and start looking at real votes.

The effect isn't as strong as a new poll from that state, but the 538 model doesn't treat states as discrete units.  It recognizes that, if Trump is improving in Iowa, he's also probably improving in similar states like Ohio and Wisconsin.
