The current refugee cap is way too low. We can and should do more. By raising this cap we allow more people to come here, work hard, start businesses, pay taxes, etc.

What is the need for this increased refugee occupancy and what is the vetting process for refugees?

The vetting process is handled by a Commission under the State Department as outlined in FL 8-6. This bill seeks to raise the cap, giving us more flexibility in our handling of international crises.

I support this; I've followed quite closely the story in Germany who took over a 1 million. I find it rather annoying that the RL discord around refugees is a long argument about numbers & then about services... but eventually everyone loses interest, it becomes normal & then 20 years later people wonder why so many people kicked up a fuss at the time... but sadly by then we're onto the next argument about the new at-risk people.

To give a RL example back in the U.K in the 60s there was a real moral panic about East African Asian refugees coming to the U.K & the impact it would have- yet it turned out to be completely pointless.

There's countless other examples of this around the world.

I'd also argue that sudden events in Afghanistan (and Vietnam a generation before then) also shows the need to ensure that we can take on a larger amount of refugees who we expected to fight & die for our interests.

This is a very good idea and I urge the Congress to pass this, accepting more refugees and allowing them a chance for a better life and to escape often dire conditions in war torn, dysfunctional, ruined, or unstable countries is a very good idea.
